But that’s the trick of Aldi, they have some items that are quite poor. Cheese, deli meat, cereals. But their produce, meat, dairy, spices, boxed goods are good quality and the best prices I’ve found, Costco included. The problem with Aldi is that you can’t do 100% of your shopping there, but I get 60-70% of my groceries and it saves an absurd amount of money.
Also the quarter-to-unlock-the-cart system is great. We keep one a couple in our cup holders. Keeps everyone honest and the cart system nice and orderly.
And the checkout process is 2-3x faster than any grocery store I’ve been to. You barely spend any time in line. Some might consider the bagging a hassle but I appreciate how it keeps the lines moving.
I love how the guy that goes down the leaderboard after every PGA tour event, picks more than one favorite hole on a course which eventually isn’t even the best hole on their respected nines, was bothered by someone else being long winded describing a golf shot.
It is literally the TV advert for Aldi here in Australia - a lady shopping looking at her list and can’t get all the items, the Aldi checkout person saying it’s ok we know we don’t have everything you need, she replies you’ll always be my first.
I feel Aldi has done ok here in Aus, we need competition to our big 2 and the fact Aldi has been around so long now is a sign they are doing stuff right.
I just attempted to AirPlay from iPhone to Apple TV. Not sure if it was a me problem but kept timing out after like 10-15 seconds. Haven’t encountered that before. NBD just watched on phone but a data point…
The Aldi cheese and cereals(esp) cheese are amazing. Tons of good German options. People make legit livings designing high-end charcuterie boards using Aldi ingredients.
The deli meats are a weak link.
The cereals are really good. It’s just privately labeled Malt-O-Meal IIRC
Was watching Anyone But You on Netflix the other night with the wife. It takes place in Sydney and at one point there’s a helicopter shot of a wedding scene - in the distance you can see Bondi Beach and Bondi Golf & Diggers Club (with the tower that was 800 yards away). I almost excitedly paused the movie to explain it to my wife but thought better of it.
