Ya I had heard of the first sip(s) being big ones and making sure you sip “under” the foam (similar to how you should drink a real cappuccino but that’s a different thread). Love the idea turning it into a game of trying to hit that spot for who buys the next round, etc. though.
I feel like all y’all are sleeping on Doolin. I’m considering flying to Shannon just to check it out.
The pitch n putt or the town?
I flew into Shannon about 3 weeks ago. I google mapped it and it was still a pretty long way to Doolin. There are two decent looking ones in Limerick though.
Edit: I assumed you meant the pitch and putt. Maybe you meant the town?
Not ruling it out, but readers of A Course Called Scotland will know that Mr. Coyne is unlikely to be partaking of any intoxicants.
It was jetlag, obviously.
Yup, the new sativa strain.
“Check out this new strain bro…it makes you feel like shit for days”
On a serious note, jet lag from the US east coast to the UK is pretty minimal, it’s only a 5 hour time zone difference.
Unless your someone with a rigid body clock like me, in which case any time zone change crushes me.
While you all may say that your personal political lean didn’t impact your review of the course, the way you presented this is pretty disingenuous to say the least.

You all are saying on here that the course just wasn’t “inspiring”. Ok, maybe you could have discussed that on the episode itself. Maybe show why it wasn’t inspiring. Soly has referenced on here how the green complexes all seemed to be the same. Fine, that could be justifiable criticism but how would any of us know that if you didn’t talk it on the episode and didn’t give any examples to it? All that was said was Randy didn’t think the dunes were used appropriately, but didn’t expand on how they are used and if he were designing the course today how it could have been laid out to better utilize the natural assets of the property. This is the kind of detail that you did all throughout Scotland but didn’t here. If you are wondering why maybe people think you all let your politics determine the perspective - this is why. You didn’t actually talk about the course at all and just showed some images of putts, a few shots and some ocean shots. You almost didn’t discuss ANYTHING about the course itself. I understand why you wanted to go talk to the lady who owned the house and didn’t want to sell - its an interesting story, but you all put that over the course itself. Even if you wanted to bash the course itself and show why it was the case that’d be fine. You don’t have to like the course, but give the viewers the actual reasons why and show us - which you failed to do.

You bash on Trump for how he promotes his brand all over the place. That may not be your cup of tea, but honestly, that’s his business’ marketing strategy and it is what it is. It’s not specific to this course or any other property that he owns. Does that really take something away from the golf course? Maybe for someone who dislikes his politics it may, but no honest person is going to honestly judge their perception of the course because the brand name is displayed everywhere. I also find it interesting that you all take such an issue with his brand promotion when you all wear NLU gear in everything that you do (shirts, hats, jackets, shirts, pullovers, balls). It’s pretty hypocritical for you guys to take issue with what the Trump Organization does but are fine promoting all your stuff constantly.

What I found particularly annoying was that on the podcast summarizing the trip you guys said it wasn’t your intention that you wanted to get political, but then the political element was the entire basis for your review of the course on the episode. As I mentioned before, you didn’t talk specifically about the course nearly at all - even if in a negative tone. And then when you even did show some of the course you took a shot at his hair (a real original and fresh take there) and then also made sure to add references to AOC at the end. None of that had anything to do with golf or the golf course, but you made sure that it made it in the final cut - I wonder why.
NLU has put out some amazing golf content (I’ve watched Tourist Sauce Scotland no short of 15 times completely) but I’ll be honest - I don’t ever want to hear your political leanings or views on anything. People came and come to your content for a fun and interesting take on golf - not your take on the political environment. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate it when I can honestly say that I have no idea how someone I follow for non-political content leans politically and how annoying it is when they feel the need to make sure they mention it, even in some small way. When navigating politics successfully, It means that they have steered away from anything that could be taken as a political lean, even small jokes because whats the point of having it in there at all since your content isn’t designed around politics. A few examples of this - Chasing Scratch podcast, Golf Sidekick (YouTube), TopSpeedGolf (YouTube), Gankas’ limited YouTube stuff, The Course Reports (YouTube/Podcast). I’ve never heard ANYTHING that could remotely be considered political in their content. Why is that? Probably because politics has literally no impact to the type of content they are creating.
Sir this is a Wendy’s
Hot take: I don’t particularly like Guinness.
Do you miss the subtext with everything, or just youtube videos?
There’s a gash on my 8-iron from when I played one off the beach on the opening hole at Machrihanish. If I am able to outlive its playability, that club is going on a wall.
Hard disagree. Flying east sucks and kicks my ass, even if only 2-3 hours. Never had any problem going west.
so take your dollars and your business and go somewhere else. - wait - you’re complaining about free content?
Beggars can’t be choosers.
Most people don’t.
Well yeah, you get more sleep.
