I put ride but Iâm still debating dusting off the push cart. Sometimes a hard decision on a hilly course (even a short hilly course) when youâve had back surgery and total knee replacement. I walked Pinehurst #4 with a push cart last year.
No judgement, just do whatâs best for you. All that matters is we are going to have fun!
What Dave said. Long day of golf do what your comfortable with.
Should be a blast. Looking forward to the course.
I have played it once before. I have scant memory except thinking it was very enjoyable and a hidden gem at the time.
Happy Monday Railers.
The Forecast @ The Rail @ Aiken Golf Club
Headline : Saturday shaping up to be near perfect.
Short Term :
Scattered showers/weak thunderstorms today ahead of a front that should move thru Tuesday night.
Aiken may see 1-2" of rain between now and Wednesday morning. There is a small chance of thunderstorms Wednesday afternoon but will be dependent on surface temps for some lifting. By Wednesday night, things should be clearing.
Tuesday Night Precip Forecast (NAM, other models in good agreement)
Mid-longer term :
As long as AGC has some drainage, Thursday thru Sunday should be pretty excellent as surface high pressure builds into the area. Sunny skies. Notable temps : Friday nightâs low may get down to around 50F. Saturday morning may be chilly, but the temp will rise with the sun. The morning round will likely see upper 50s rising to upper 60s. Afternoon temps may not break 75F. Winds Saturday are expected to be NEâward to Eâward, 5-10mph.
overall :
As a former meteorological intern at CBS Channel 9 (Greenville, NC) in 2000, I approve of this forecast.
Over view of the Golf course. For those who have never been I will try and give you the where to be where not to be.
- You have all the room you want right. Double green is severe.
- Hugging the left side gives you the best angle to the short par 5
- tight driving hole to a skinny 3 or 4 tiered green.
- Short but sever uphill par 3. Above the hole isnât fun.
- One of my favorite holes. Longer hitters will want to lay back off the tee to a skinny green with great sloping.
- another one of my favorites. The farther right you are the better off you are. as there is a tree overhanging the entrance of the green.
- Good standard par 4
- Down Hill âreachable-ishâ par 4. trouble all around the green. Just get something going over the hill and youâre fine.
- Another longer uphill par 3. Again long isnât good.
- Great par 5. Those wanting to reach in two stay to the left side if the pin is back right.
- Long par 3 with a good sloped green. Birdie here will almost surely win a skin.
- Par 4 with an uphil approach. Avoid the pot bunkers on the right in the long hitters driving zone.
- major uphill 2nd shot par 5 with an iron in hand. Green is severe and being above the hole or with side hill put will leave you with a tough 2 putt.
- Driveable 4 with 3wood for a long hitter. Driver for more normal players. LONG IS DEAD. Great green complex.
- Another Driveable 4 if you are a dead straight player. 4 iron off the tee leaves me a wedge in hand.
- The Staicase. Great downhil medium length par 3.
- Back to the double green sever uphill 2nd shot and a wild green complex.
- Par 3 finish back into view of the beautiful old club house. Green can be tricky.
Sounds like someone fighting the snappy yanks might be in trouble, thanks for putting that together.
Youâre a damn treasure
