Why Gearhart?

Gearhart Golf Links holds the title of the oldest golf course west of the Mississippi, dating back to 1892. The layout sits steps from the Oregon Coast, where links-style golf meets sea breezes and the kind of scenery that makes you forget your scorecard. Generations of golfers have walked these fairways, and the course still plays with the character and quirks you’d expect from a true historical venue.

Making the trip

Gearhart is about 90 minutes from Portland on the northern Oregon Coast. McMenamins Gearhart Hotel and Gearhart by the Sea are both great lodging options right next to the course. Nearby Astoria also has solid options worth checking out, and Airbnbs in the area are plentiful. Build the holiday weekend around it and spend some more time along the coast.

Lock in your spot

The field caps at 24 players, and registration closes August 1. Last year filled up fast. Secure your registration now and come spend a weekend playing one of the best courses in the state for a shot at the NIT.

Is registration still open for 13 days? It looks like it closed. Unless UKG is being difficult.

Never mind… Just had to go through the app, find the Mudders, join the Mudders, then find the event and register. I love this app :joy:

Are players good to be grouped at tees according to handicap?

So would a couple of STROHs from Texas be welcome? As in my wife and I who played in the prolific in 2024?

All are welcome! We have a great group out here in Oregon, and if you haven’t played Gearhart it’s absolutely worth the trip.

Oh we love Gearhart. Going to be there for a week starting 8/14 and then just saw this post and trying to figure out if we can go back 2 weeks later. We are such idiots we are members. Joined it last December after a few cocktails.

Come through! We’d love to have you both!

Yes we pair with handicap in mind.

Sorry I guess I meant like playing stones vs blacks, etc.. Didn’t mean to sound like I cared who I played with haha

We typically will have everyone at the black tees, but allow some adjustment to whites if someone wants to. Same goes for the stones, if you enjoy that type of thing.
