Why Gearhart?
Gearhart Golf Links holds the title of the oldest golf course west of the Mississippi, dating back to 1892. The layout sits steps from the Oregon Coast, where links-style golf meets sea breezes and the kind of scenery that makes you forget your scorecard. Making the trip
Gearhart is about 90 minutes from Portland on the northern Oregon Coast. McMenamins Gearhart Hotel and Gearhart by the Sea are both great lodging options right next to the course. Nearby Astoria also has solid options worth checking out, and Airbnbs in the area are plentiful. Build the holiday weekend around it and spend some more time along the coast.
