Love everything about this video series. “Actual bartender? No, just get the cute girl from marketing to do it. What do you mean ‘measurements’?”
Word on the internet is that she is an actual bartender and that the video series was made during the bonanza to get any content at all on the internet in the early 00’s.
She was hired to do this series which was like 30 cocktails in a single day, and then the producers didn’t give a shit. She had to reuse ice from one cocktail to the next and eventually she quit giving a shit too. If the people paying for the video didn’t care about making it well, why should the person being paid for it?
I’m just glad that I have an excuse to call an entire pint of bourbon an “old fashioned”
Good background, that’s pretty wild. The redemption video is perfection.
AND THERE YOU HAVE IT! A gummy bear old fashioned in a 9 gallon tub!
Getting our mise en place ready for what is sure to be an excellent private cooking experience with @jwfickett . Thanks Ope Raffle!!
Butternut Squash Gnocchi with Sage Browned Butter and Italian Sausage upcoming.
Just wanna get this back out there since the thread’s been popping. I’m working on trying to organize an Erin Hills day for the 14th, and have been in touch with the Pro to see about lodging and doing some additional fun on the Kettle Loop and Drumlin even though we wouldn’t all be staying on Property. I would love absolutely loved to have won this one. Enjoy it and at the very least, share the end result with my fat ass through pictures.
What’s our wine pairing tonight, Job?
Love the cutting board!
just finished a bottle of Sancerre to get set up but going with Chardonnay for cooking/dinner
So I’m a long time Bourbon drinker, new nest member. I have made it a habit to try old fashioned drinks at different locations. It seems like everyone has their own take on this classic drink and it is interesting to me to try different variations.
That being said, hands down the best Old Fashioned I have ever consumed was at the bar at the 18 Restaurant at The Rusacks Hotel in St. Andrews. I was able to coax the bartender to write the recipe down on a napkin and figured I would share it with you guys:
Measurements were in SI units so good luck with that lol. I have yet to recreate it, but it was damn good.
Cheers!
I’m really, really #thankful for @jwfickett agreeing to this.
Second at the NIT and a private cooking experience all in one month? It’s a good time to be @Sweet_Cupn_Cake
Cheers to all, but especially @MidwestHack
