The Inexplicable Survival of Jay Monahan

Then you’re not a gambler, which means a the PGA Tour and every tour and every other professional sport doesn’t care about you.

I’m not a gambler.

Fair point that would be the one thing that fans would find a benefit that Jay did. But, I don’t think that took any skill on Jay’s part. Every sport was getting gambling legalized. It was part of the zeitgeist.

I think the most significant thing in this article that I was completely unaware of is the incestuous relationship between Monahan, many of the tour execs, and the investment group.

Throw on top of that the Masters members on the board and the members of the board (Malnati, etc.) getting sponsors invites into elevated events.

All of that is shady as fuck in my opnion.

If I were player I would be pissed off.

I appreciate the stones of @KVV and NLU to write this article. Seems like there could be some potentially explosive stuff here if one kept digging the more I think about it. As always follow the money.

I’ve seen all these comments KVV and it leads me to this…

While obviously nobody wants to be deposed under oath, what exactly is Augusta / the PGA et all doing that they’re so opposed to it they’ll go public with a shoddy merger before having any details finalized just to keep this from happening?

That part is actually far more concerning then which empty suit is “running” the PGA Tour.

Turns out the PGA is like most other major corporation.

Brian Harmen being a bootlicker isn’t something I expected from the Butcher.

That just seems like a naïve question. Augusta is a comically private entity whos membership is made up of some of the wealthiest and most powerful people in the world. You don’t get to that point in life without acquiring skeletons in your closet that they’ll do damn near anything to keep in the closet. The finance bro overlords of the PGA tour fall under that umbrella as well.

That’s fair. I find it interesting they’d be involved in any suit anyways since they are not a part of the PGA tour.

That ties back into the incestuous nature of it all, Augusta National is one of the 5 families of professional golf. They have a majorly outsized influence on the game of professional golf for what they are.

I posted a couple weeks ago that I had just quit my job and was considering going back to my journalism roots and getting to the bottom of why and how Jay still had a job. Glad to say @KVV and NLU were already on the job. Bravo, boys. Don’t let up.

Impressive is not a word my employer, wife, or family would use but I appreciate it.

That is why it is so impressive, the fact you have any of those things and can be this active, let alone all of them

I don’t have kids; I meant family in a more general sense. They don’t understand the Refuge either :joy:

Ah I gotcha, I tried explaining this place to my mom recently and fair to say, I went down in her opinion. No kids is the way to be in my eyes.
