The Down Under thread - ANZAC adjacent

@ScottW will sing the praises of NSW better than I ever could, but it is a fantastic track.

For those of us on a budget, The Coast is one of the better value rounds in Sydney in my opinion. I’m a member at The Ridge but it’s probably only second to Moore Park in terms of availability and pace of play problems.

Is Wollongong too far to travel? Used to be a member down there and have always had a good time

Saw another thread beginning around the cost of US Public Golf, specifically top 100 courses and then after @Barrington’s comment around NSW. Interested in what people think are the most overpriced courses in Aus / NZ?

Mea culpa accepted

Looks like I might be the only one over here

Have to think we’re pretty lucky with prices here for the most part. Things have snuck up a little but you can still find a round in the Perth metro area for circa $50-70 for the most part. It’s honestly the tee times being a struggle to find if you need a specific time or want to play as a 4 ball.

Agree with @MG82 , it’s far more of an availability question than a cost question for me, although I do get the impression that NZ might be more expensive by comparison?

Assume everyone is aware of this site, too?

Not sure how good the value is for your local spots (search by State at the top) and sometimes feels scummy hammering these deals, but needs must sometimes.

Some really good deals on quality courses available there, my only gripe is usually around blackout periods which can render a few of the more appealing deals too good to be true.

Overall though, I’ve found it a good way to watch the pennies while getting to play some new tracks. I’ve also gotten a couple of stay and plays which were legitimately great value

Well hell yea! Hows the weather at the end of May / beginning of June?

Imma let @Jazid take that one for you.

Used to use it a lot when I lived in Vic. Agree with @BaconFingers, can be a good way to check out new places you wouldn’t normally consider

Read the fine print though, you might think you’re getting a good deal only to find out its only available on Tuesday and Thursday

That’s heading into our winter, temps average around mid-60s and 50/50 chance of rain.

Temperature wise its fine for golf, its just the rain - you might get lucky, you might not

Really off myself for leaving her out. We have so many.

This was me the first few years of my membership when I did the fees / rounds calculation that we should all avoid doing but don’t.
