BIG MERV! The great Victorian
Gâday all, been a while since Iâve dropped in - howâs everyone doing?
Had a crazy few weeks/months selling my house, quitting my job and packing everything into storage - and now cramming as much golf as humanly possible into the summer break before we hit the road.
Will be living out of a small cabin in Tassie for a few months, and then doing a lap around Australia from roughly May-December, so the clubs will be gathering dust - aiming to try and sneak in a couple of rounds in Hobart and try and figure out which club to join down there once we find a property long-term.
Sounds ace. Hit me up when youâre heading West!
Te arai
Thats it
Great review, thanks!
The commute from Hobart to Te Arai is
Not great
North better than South
South more fun and prettier
Both top notch walking courses.
Itâs taken a few months but weâre finally getting the juice from the nz trip
2 American lads (both 30 nothing too crazy) in Melbourne this weekend (1/16-1/19) and in Sydney (1/24-1/27) would love to treat a local to some drinks if they willing to show us some cool pubs
Shout out to @Double_Bogey_Dave and @BaconFingers this is
FTLT calling in from Brunswick, Melbourne. Play most of my golf in Gippsland and the Murray River (confusing, I know) unless its a lurk at a sandbelt club or either peninsula. Love to hear from other local Nesters or a local Roost.
Shouldnât be too hard to stumble across some cool pubs in Melbourne, depending on your level of hipster tolerance. Personal favourite areas are around Collingwood/Fitzroy, though itâs also been a while!
Sounds like @FTLT might be best positioned to give you the locals guide though.
To keep up my WA love-in of late, recommend these guys for some brews - Brunswick Brewhouse | Rocky Ridge Brewing Co
Thanks for the suggestion, I appreciate all the input! Iâm visiting from Seattle actually so thatâs funny you recommend a Washington brewery
MORE WESTERN AUSTRALIA DISRESPECT!
(Itâs from down in Jindong, about 2.5hrs south of Perth.)
Was fortunate enough to play both a couple of weeks ago.
Completely agree that the North is better but South is more beautiful.
Not sure I am with you on the fun aspect of it - the strategy with some of the North greens was good stuff
Haha classic American centered mind, Iâll show myself out
I think I recommended some pubs in my previous Sydney info post, but youâll be in Sydney for Australia Day which either means youâll see some nationalistic pride on offer or youâll get to see protesters fight police. Maybe both, if youâre lucky!
Head up to Paddington for beers. Oxford St, Glenmore Road fiveways, things of that nature.
Hit up North Bondi RSL too. Great spot for a beer and some people-watching.
Iâm down at my sisterâs farm that weekend or Iâd come out for a drink with you.
Reminds me, Iâm over in April, be good to have a beer!
For sure.
Iâll bring Rose along too!
