think even if Cantlay and Harman were in the first group there’d be no hold ups
I think it’s HWY 50 through Nevada that has a sign saying “world’s most desolate road” or something like that. I drove it solo in college, lived up to the hype. 80 through NV is bleak af too.
My dad and I did this on my way out to my freshman year at ASU. 2nd day our ac crapped out somewhere in New Mexico which was a tuffffff scene.
On the way back in the spring we picked up my buddy from NMMI and then headed to Dallas for the Byron Nelson. 4 guys, two dorms worth of stuff in a suburban. White Sands in NM is cool, the rest of the drive… not so much. My favorite moment was when my uncle, a retired Colonel, asked my buddy if he’d ever considered just like, not talking for a bit.
On the bright side, going east from Flagstaff you can get some fantastic mileage.
And south lol
I can’t stick to the interstate going south, 89A kills the mileage quick.
One of our kids has this friend and your uncle is now my hero for more than just his service to the country.
I’ll be in my cart. Toting Silver Bullets. Playing Doobie Brothers.
I don’t smoke cigars anymore but maybe I’ll restart.
Hell yeah, brother
If you’re playing ready golf walking is never the issue…. Actually because I don’t have to ride to your ball in the cart but go straight to mine I’ll play faster
Don’t be a scum bag, my swing stinks, my saving grace is I play fast
(Let me be very clear, this course is a bitttcccchhh to walk)
Let me tell you from experience: not even a ridiculously hot/slightly crazy woman riding along with you can make that stretch of highway any better.
Someone with a smarter brain that me tell me how to do this trip and including Wild Horse? I’m flying in, but can fly into anywhere. My original thought was into Omaha, and then flying out of Denver, but the rental car charges are absurd. Is there a smart way to do this?
I’ve emailed, called and set up an account with Wild Horse trying to get a tee time for 6/1 with zero response. Apparently golf is hugely popular in the Great Plains.
I’m in with whoever can get a tee time.
Not sure there’s an easy way honestly it’s a lot of miles in between and lack of good airport. I’m a couple hours from wild horse and would do my best to catch up with a group if you guys made it. But following the extinction I’m out on landmand unfortunately
We’ll monitor the situation. Honestly I’m trying to get some fellas out to my home course of Buffalo dunes in garden city Kansas. This latest renovation of a couple greens is going to be killer. Best muni I’ve found in my short lifetime.
I mean I’m a man of the people even though I’m a new guy and have yet to meet any of you. I’ll put it on the books
The Fried Egg podcast had me wondering where the course is, sounds like a sweet place.
Yes! Crazy to play the latest pod and your super and home course is the subject lol. But it really is a neat place. There’s not a lot of options in this area unfortunately so it’s nice to have a course that can play so different and uniquely each time. It’s a real challenge when the winds up and can be way up some times!
