Luke came out firing at flags. He must have had 5-6 birdies and was +7 on his quota for the event. Still got nipped by one, ask him about it, he’s taking it really well. He closed the both of us out early, TJ 4&3, me 3&2. It was majestic watching the long drives and piercing irons.
TJ and I didn’t have our best stuff. We were close all day but he let me off the hook with some squirrelly shots that allowed me to win 15 and 16. A tough missed 7 footer on 17 allowed me to close it out 3&1.
Fun day and event. Luke and I advance. Good luck to whoever plays him and you’re welcome to whoever draws me .
Group O play continued today at Linrick Golf Course in Columbia. @stupidflanders defeated @BarnacleRob 4&3. A fun round featuring many shots from the woods on both sides. We both conceded holes well before we reached the green. That pretty much describes the course at Linrick!
Great match today and a deserved win by @stupidflanders. Cool to learn that we likely crossed paths while working at the Philadelphia Cricket Club back in ‘06. LinRick was is decent shape. I think we both would play a few holes a lot differently next time.
The other half of Group O also played today out at the Charleston Muni. @EFreeCHS defeated @MarkCaldwell 3&2 in a great back and forth match. Can’t say enough about the course and the intricacies of the greens. Throw in some great company and it makes for an all around solid day.
Good morning folks. A few updates coming your way:
I love all the updates and especially when folks take the time to get up some instagram content or a very nice recap post. Great work!
Please check your group in this score sheet - https://score7.io/7migd8io9d/standing - I have tried to make sure I capture all the updates and standings correctly.
I know many groups are done, some are having more fun than others, but more importantly some still haven’t gotten off the ground! I won’t start to badger you yet, but will next week. DEADLINE IS AUGUST 9TH to have the group stages wrapped up!
It looks like you didn’t capture my 5 and 4 win over miketerps for pod F. @bigcheese and I will be playing our match tomorrow at Forest Oaks and I think more of pod F has something scheduled for 8/7.
Group I was back out to CC of Salisbury yesterday for a match between @AnOlGoatTrack and myself. Super tight match over 17 holes where we only halved 3 holes any nobody was ever up more than +1. In the end I squeaked it out 2&1 on a hot, humid but empty golf course.
It looks like @Deven75 will be on double duty versus myself and @smallz0r this coming Sunday at Cabarrus CC. With @smallz0r, @JamesHCard, and myself at 1-1, some interesting scenarios in play this weekend.
Also in play is the the very important, yet unanswered question of - what does @Deven75 play off of? I think @JamesHCard has some very strong opinions…
In almost every group I do not think it will matter at all, but basically is me trying to record how much people are winning their matches by. For example if someone wins 4&3 I am recording it as a 4-0 score.
Most folks are playing tiebreaks and so it shouldn’t matter because we give out points for those, but in the case we had 3 people with the exact some amount of “points” we could use differential to help determine who advances in a pinch.
Group J kept rolling forward with a match slightly documented on Instagram between @bmasters and Myself at Country Club of Lexington. The English Curmudgeon @JamesHCard and @raleighdawg were witness to a true pillow fight of sorts. Neither @bmasters or myself had our best stuff. I birdied the first hole and that was about all the excitement that the day held.
I won the day 3&1 but as has been the case for the last year, it is really cool to see how much the Quota King continues to improve and get better. Any round played with @bmasters is always a pleasure and I look forward to many more.
