The CLC Matchplay - Season 5 is here! Launching at 1242!

I don’t even go here

@pintabone and I are going to try to play a March mudness type match tomorrow at the C Bissel Jenkins Memorial Links City of Charleston Municipal Golf Course. Rain will be a factor possibly turning it into a pillow fight/ mud wrestling situation TBD.

Multi tasking during the fried egg event.

Since it wasn’t mentioned in the original post and Tom and I are hopefully getting a match in tomorrow, 100% handicap?

Going through travel and youth soccer plans the last weekend of April is my target for a round. Anyone from pod 13 interested?

Sorry I have been MIA, would love to join but not sure I could swing it. What is the timeline for completing the first pod?

I’ve updated the pod 13 sheet to reflect Scott ‘First Blood’ Pintabone’s well played victory from yesterday.

You have specific day / time in mind? I could try and grab a time at Dunes West to hold. Maybe get a full group from the pod to try and get 2-3 matches done in one round?

Anybody want to play a match this Sunday 3/31 at Muni, 10:12? I have one spot open.

SC West Pod whatever number got kicked off today at Old Barnwell for a grudge match between myself and @dmmcgaha

I went up 2 thru 4 like the thoroughbred I am. Then survived 6 straight shot holes to make the turn 1 up. It was back and forth on the back that ultimately ended with me winning 3&1.

Always a great day with the reverend.

Jesus is 1-0 versus death and the grave. Reverend is 0-5 vs Mr. Boatright. Merry Easter to all.

@Paden and I got things started for Pod 12 this past weekend at Golden Bear GC on HHI. Can confirm he is just fine playing somewhere other than Lexington as I proceeded to get waxed 6&4.

Unfortunately I forgot to take photos but my man played lights out all match. When he’s driving the ball well it’s going to be a very tall task to beat him. Also doesn’t hurt when he’s sticking fairway bunker shots to 3 feet…

Vibes were great though and we couldn’t have asked for better weather. Appreciate my man making the trip down to the low country!

Welcome to the story of down but never out. @jtshelley42 and I played our match at The Secession Golf Club in Beaufort, South Carolina.

I knew from the start it was going to be an uphill battle after copy and paste snap hooks on 1 tee. Justin hits the fairway and has a 1 up lead before hitting an approach shot. I proceed to follow that up with an up and down from the marsh to square it up. The rest of the match was a combination of Justin being either 2 or 1 up.

On hole 16 I was one down, Justin and I were laying side by side both chipping for eagle. He makes par I make birdie and we are all square with 2 to play. Hole 17, island green and I put the worst swing I have ever put on a ball and hit it in the marsh. Justin hits the green and makes par to go 1 up.

Hole 18, I need to win the hole to force a signature back porch chip off (tournament tradition at Secession). We are both in the fairway and we both block our approach shots right. Justin gets up and down for par and I make bogey leading to his 2 up win.

Who cares if I lost, Secession was so sick.

@jsteve15 and I played our match today adjacent to the QCH Mimosa Event. I was down 4 thru 10 before rattling off 3 straight wins on 11-13. I then took the 15th and 16th to go 1 up before Jeff knocked it back to square on 17. On to 18… and two duck hooks towards the OB parking lot bushes later, Jeff took the win 1 up. Just happy I didn’t hit @PowerFadez’s truck.

Being on the receiving end of a @wolfpack888 birdie barrage is a very uncomfortable place to be. Great battle back with a shitty way to end.

Pretty fun battle today at Treyburn vs the commish, @Swing_hard_and_hope. I think Cody called Thomas’s round Rory-esque - some truly awe-inspiring drives, some stretches of dynamite golf, just needs to dial in the distance on approaches. I had two blowup holes early but otherwise played pretty solid, and we were pretty much neck and neck the whole way. I made birdie on 16 to go 2UP with 2 to play, but the Commish won 17 and hit the best drive I’ve ever seen on 18 en route to winning that hole and halving the match.

Fantastic day out there.

I came to look for this year’s kick-off post and started reading some amazing hole-by-hole recaps. I liked about 5 of them before I realized they were from 2022.

I updated pod 13 today. @Jmay425 and I were neck and neck at the Muni but I squeaked out the win.

Pardon any errors and apply any corrections needed.

@Akarito and @MrRyPenn and I need to get something going on an upcoming weekend perhaps?
