Yeah, but that doesn’t appear to be a scenario that helped Tim, so we will ignore that.
As stated, the first ball was very much in play and impossible to lose other than for our own blindness.
I hit the second ball as a provisional, while remaining bewildered at how my first ball went missing and intending to go back and try to find it, because unless a squirrel fox took it, the ball was out there. Our playing partner finished the hole first, and went to do another pass over the assumed landing area. He found it in a sprinkler head in the fairway, I went back and played the first.
From what location did you play that provisional?
Also a good question. Do we have another scoring controversy involving the QCH?
So you played the provisional from where? A provisional is played from the prior spot, before you leave that spot to prevent walking back, in cases where you believe your original may be lost or OB.
If you looked, could not find it, and played a second ball, that ball is now in play. Your opportunity to look ends as soon as you make the drop.
If your drop was in the area where you believe it was lost, that is also an incorrect drop, as lost ball drops are like OB and are stroke and distance. So you played a ball from the wrong place. Either is loss of hole on match play.
However, you say that you and your opponent both agreed to the scenario?
Lot of wanting to follow the rules from First Flight, but seemed to be ok with the cow & cotton club moving on a few weeks back.
No controversy - @Jrams9207 can have it - not dealing with this drama. I screwed it up
Going to just jump in amidst all this.
Jumped in with the QCH meetup yesterday (thanks for @wolfpack888 for hosting) to play @Thesandman at Cabarrus CC.
I’m not going to do a full hole by hole write up because I don’t have the card and it’s a bit much (said with tongue firmly in cheek).
I was giving 15 shots.
Hole 1: I pump one OB while giving a shot, good start. TGT - 1 down
Hole 2: Sandman has an incredible up and down that makes me (in good fun) question his cap. Alas, haters, it is legitimate. He wins the hole, to which @wolfpack888 asks me, Ames? C’mon man! TGT - 2 down.
Rest of the front was back and forth and I ended it down 1.
After a double on 10 to go 2 down, I needed to get it in gear. Sandman helped me a bit with some driver struggles. I won 11, 12, 13, and 14 to take a 2 up lead.
Hole 15: Sloppy play from both of us after I had two chips, but made a 6-footer to halve. TGT 2 up
Hole 16: Halved in 6, yuck.
Hole 17: I put a fairway bunker shot to 20 ft and two-putted, while Sandman got an unfortunate break on his approach. TGT wins 3&1.
Fun day and Cabarrus is always a nice walk. Also, thanks to @Hitchings21 for the honorary QCH koozie.
Damn it, @tdaly you are going to kill this bit. I need you to be aggressive and unyielding. I already have my next post typed up.
I thought I made this clear with this bit “I’m involved with something that doesn’t concern me at all”.
Nah, I’m bad with rules, we didn’t play it by the books. @Jrams9207 should take this.
I dropped at our best approximation of where the ball should have been - which incidentally ended up being 20 yards further back than where it actually was.
It was very much a “touchdown in spirit” situation.
I don’t want controversy mucking up the integrity of this fine tournament.
@tdaly I think, and again I’m not involved, this is the only thing that matters. Your opponent is ok it seems with how it played out.
I just don’t want to be a bad gui. My lesson from this is not to give detailed postings recapping the round. The less information the better, could’ve just said we both made par and been done with it hahaha
Not so fast my friend.
You are stated, on the record that you and your opponent were cool with it.
You may, in match play, agree to specific interpretations (what constitutes nearest point of relief, or where a ball crossed into a hazard, etc), but you cannot agree to waive a rule.
Unfortunately, that is a DQ for both players in match play. Per the rules (which again, you cannot just waive).
@Swing_hard_and_hope I call for the summary execution of both players. Perhaps we could get a shirtless Tennessee cattle rancher to fill in for the next round? Alternatively, @tdaly advances because that was previously agreed to, and everyone here has told an opponent “drop there, that shouldn’t be lost” at one point or another.
And… scene.
I think is the key. It may not be completely by the book but if a casual drop and hit was taken for pace reasons AND the ball was found before the hole was finished out AND both golfers agreed that the original ball should be played then I believe the proper events took place, especially given the companionship that is the highest priority of the CLC.
Your not a bad guy haha. If I wanted to call it I would have. Like I said I didn’t want to win because your ball landed on a deep sprinkler with thick grass. Everyone saw it land cleanly it would be different if it was on a sketchy line or something. I’m happy with the result. I had plenty of chances to take the match and I let it slip away by my own doing. I don’t feel Tim did wrong in any way.
Why has no one called anyone else a bitch yet? That’s how things get resolved on here.
shut up bitch
Yes!!Now we can get this party started lol
We’ve got a bitch, a buddy in the CLC chat, now we just need someone to reference a mediocre agriculture production for NC and we’ve hit the trifecta
