“Fun” = Opus Dei treatment
oh hell yeah!
great time to keep in mind that par is completely irrelevant in match play
I sent a few of you DMs on WhatsApp with the login info for the CLC IG account.
Just post pictures and videos to the story, and tag who you are playing with if they have an IG account.
Just a reminder that the Coastal Pod(N) will be finishing our matches this coming up Sunday with a 36 hole day planned at Wilmington Muni and Pine Valley… Going to be a great time with @franklinorr @JoeCostello & @AirMailWedges
Going out with a bang.
Muni recently punched greens so it will be a true who can make putts situation
@AirMailWedges Well good thing I got some practice at Holly Ridge yesterday lol…
I’m going to be thrown off playing with Ben and Isaac somewhere other than Mid Pines
Group J finally got under way today in Morganton, NC at Mimosa Hills with a match between myself and @RPruitt .
@RPruitt has been traveling the nation in the last several weeks and is heading back out tomorrow, so we were very fortunate to get in our match and kick off our Pod’s group play.
@RPruitt did not have his best stuff today admittedly, but man any round played with him is always enjoyable.
I won the match 8&6 with my first eagle in several months coming on the Par 5 12th and final hole of the match.
After the match @RPruitt found some juice and closed out his round with some absolute GOLF shots coming down the stretch. A highlight of his day was a sky’d tee shot which left him about 250-260 out on the Par 4 16th hole, on his approach he absolutely ROASTED a 3 wood to about 15ft. I was ahead in the fairway watching his approach basically from under the trajectory of the ball and it was incredible to track the shot from his swing and watch it land perfectly into the front collar of the green and roll out hole high. On the closing 18th hole he also smoked a drive at least 305-310yds.
Even though he didn’t have the juice today, @RPruitt may have found something there on the closing holes and I wouldn’t look past him to make some serious noise in the Pod as more matches get played.
That being said…
@bmasters … you’re on the clock
My excitement for tomorrow’s round just increased dramatically. I can’t wait to watch you two slug it out - been working on my golf whisper all week.
Pod F match today between @miketerps08 and myself ended with a 5 and 4 victory for me. I am getting very lucky and catching guys not at their best.
Mike was just coming off a lesson with a bunch of swing thoughts in his head. On the first 2 holes he knocked a few OB giving me a some very comfy wins. IT was shortly after that I found my grove and started hitting the ball pretty well. I won the 5th with a 6, net par 5 to go 3 up. I won the #1 handicap 6th with a par net bird to go 4 up and I won the 7th with a par to go 5 up.
After that we traded some holes with Mike winning the 8th, I won the 9th, Mike won the 10th, I won the 11th, Mike won the 12. I headed to the 14th, # 2 handicap 4up . It was this hole that I got some very good breaks. I hit a high, spinning fading drive almost OB. It was amazing it was in play. I then hit a recovery shot into the right rough, followed by a wedge short of the green. All the Ttme Mike was playing the hole proper but did lose his second just right. Mike chipped on to about 3 feet. and I proceeded to hit a chip that should have rolled off the back but somehow hit the flag to leave a tap in 5 net 4. Mike missed the 3 footer and just like that the match was over.
Huge thanks to Mike for hosting me at Sedgefield just a few weeks before the PGA has their tourney there. The Ross design is amazing, the conditions where perfect and it was the best company possible. @Bigdawg121 and @Cody joined us. C.Mcbride showed us all up by posting a very comfy 69 with an big bird at the last. He also got Rossed worse than any of us on a chip on 16 that rolled a good 30 yards after almost coming to a standstill 15 ft from the pin.
Going to take your talents to the CLC insta? I can only imagine the amplified experience the accent brings.
Awesome write up and love to see CLC matches played at BIG time courses!
Wow Sedgefield looks prime right now. I play it every year the day after Thanksgiving but it does not look like this haha
It was so good. Greens were pure and running quick. Not so quick that they were unplayable but if you didn’t take care you would have a 7 ft come backer on downhill putts.
Fairways ran nice but I wouldn’t call it firm. Rough was penal. You had two situations in the rough. Either ball sat right on top of it and you had to battle hitting it off the top of the club or it settled deep and all you could do was hack it out.
They’re always fast in November I think they’ve got Championship Bermuda like Eagle Point down here, biggest difference is the rough. Tend to catch a lot of flyers but way better than hack out rough for sure. It’s scary that Sedgefield is a -20 to -25 event for tour players
Chris played awesome! It was fun to see him hitting it so well! He would have been tough to beat if I had been at my best. Great company and a great day!
Group P finally started our matches at the Hot! Hot! Hot! event in Lexington, SC today.
The Sausage King @abefroman became an NIT qualifier and beat the doors off of @tres_carlos and me today.
Not sure I could have done much more in our match. I had 3 birdies and shot 36 on the front and was 2 down at the turn. On 16, @tres_carlos and I were looking at the card and realized “Oh, Joe closed us both out like 2 holes ago.” He was on a heater for sure.
@charlestondawg still needs to play his matches, but @abefroman is in the drivers seat for Group P after today.
Group P standings
@abefroman 2-0-0 6 points
@FUwolfpacker 1-1-0 3 points
@tres_carlos 0-2-0 0 points
@charlestondawg 0-0-0
I’ll do a write up for the triple match from Group K. Also @Swing_hard_and_hope our pod added @tjking instead of Tyler.
