It certainly is, but they are still gonna be tight/over.

$489 left, and they spent $240 on golf at Wigwam and assuming another $105 for the house - not counting meals or the Wal-Mart trip they are down to $144.

Not seeing how they get in under budget in Ep.3

*And I’m seriously questioning the ability to get an AirBnb in the PHX metro during Spring Training for $105 a night, much less one with a pool.

How did you not have him say something at the end like “I’m going to win the mega bonus tomorrow”

I think they mentioned “being hosted” - so not sure if they had to pay for this round?

One question I do have is do they take @djpie’s portion of the Airbnb out of the budget? I was also kinda shocked by the $120/person walking round. I knew that Arizona golf was expensive, but didn’t realize it was that expensive.

That’s actually on the low end for that time of year.

Talking Stick, We-Ko-Pa, Quintero, etc are all $180-250.*

Yeah, but even then they might be eating Roller Dogs from the Circle K.

They should have made time to hit some dive bars with Clue Heywood.

How is the Wigwam as a resort? My family stayed there in the mid-90’s and I recall it being pretty nice, but I understand that was almost 30 years ago. Didn’t know if it had gotten a bit tired or was still nice.

There are some questionable definitions of “Fingies” on Urban Dictionary … LOL

they prob all have pools, no competitive advantage

Lol I did have him say almost exactly that.

Then I showed @justine and she was like “Isn’t that the part of the movie where he says ‘I’m gonna kill myself?’” And I was like, “Yeah. Haha.” And she was like, “So what’s the joke?” And I was like

So should we feign outrage and demand ‘The Pieman cut’ like blind fanboys or no?!

I haven’t rev’d up the butt hurt machine in years…

This the first course I have actually played prior to a NLU vid and definitely was not on my radar for a strapped but… I think it fits the spring training vibe perfectly.

It’s not a desert layout like a lot of the big dollar stuff in AZ, it’s an easy walk but a tough course. Tests your mechanics and fundamentals in usually benign conditions, much like the Cactus League.

Also shoutout @justine for the soundtrack so far, the “Harvest Moon” cover from Poolside is a personal fave

Neil’s reaction to Randy talking about his basketball “conversation” with Votto had me dying. Rewatched just that part 5x

Randy was clearly Keith Hernandez. DJ even put him at first.

Can’t believe Keith didn’t even get a mention during the episode.

Coming to post the same thing @kmcswain Needed to see Randy’s response to that.

This isn’t AZ or even Strapped specific, but it’s so impressive how easily @MerchCzar can hit the contemplative/confused/reflective/forlorn look on camera. It seems effortless. Major props.

You could certainly play the Blue or Red courses for less money (and both have more of a Strapped vibe) but I get they were going out with a guest so that played a role.

Wigwam is very much not in Scottsdale, it’s way on the west side of town, but it’s a nice course that is kept in good condition (as they reference to all the water and the college tournaments and green conditions bears out). $120 walking rate in March is, sadly, not a bad price given what golf costs here that time of year.
