Just had a look through my trip there about 5 years ago. Really enjoyed it (red and green chilis…).
Two restaurants that stuck out were Mary & Tito’s Cafe and El Modelo Mexican Foods.

Have Hatch Chiles made it out of the SW (I’m including Texas in the SW)? They should be in season.
That they are compared to pumpkin spice is an insult and an abomination.

I am originally from Texas, so I probably have an outsized view of their popularity. However, there was a stand outside a Kroger here the other day that was roasting them fresh and they had a pretty decent line of people waiting for them.
Agreed on the comparison to pumpkin spice, that is blasphemous.

Had some hatch chilies pop up at the store in Iowa last week. That was the first time ever seeing them here though so might be spreading to the rest of the US.
I sometimes grab these at convenience stores and put them in my bag for a mid-round snack… delicious!!

Also, doubt the Strapped boys made a stop but stopping at the Riverbend Hot Springs in T or C is always on my itinerary, even if just for an hour, as they have those sweet hourly rates.

Blue Goose Cantina is pretty average in general but they had a killer hatch green chili queso a few weeks ago

I’m looking at a batch of hatch chilis on my counter right now. Was going to put them in the breakfast on Sunday but forgot.
Might use them on the burgers tonight.
