I just asked it to rank the existing seasons. It just made everything up
I wonder what Chat GPT thinks about Strapped North Korea
“it was wild that Icarito tried to go for it over the DMZ…it is no laying up though…”
The editing of “yeah I really don’t/didn’t want to” my fiancee looked at me and goes “he’s gonna fucking love this isn’t he?”
The evolution of Neil being grumpy about having to do an activity after a disappointing round to being absolutely stoked about landing a juicy sword combo.
The man is a real life golden retriever.
The F15 ball was seen as a provocation and nearly kicked off WWIII
It wouldn’t be North Korea if we didn’t have a piss missile fall out of the sky and into the water…
Okay actually after all this I’m in on strapped NK
Neil has to break Lit’ Kimmy’s record of 30 for 18 holes in order to get the mega bonus.
After watching the rehearsal on HBO I am convinced we need a strapped x Nathan Fielder collab.
Imagine Nathan hiring actors in the fielder method to play big and Neil! Knowing his dedication he would probably recreate an entire golf course on a sound stage in LA for this.
@djpie hopefully you have his contact information
Another great season/episode. The location, the golf, the food and drink scene, all was done well.
As others have said, not sure if I’m a fan of the one episode vs 3 but if this is the only way the boys want to do Strapped then by all means.
(There were a few times where they lost me a little bit this season and I can’t help but think the long form was part of that)
Keep up the great work guys. I would take one of these a quarter over the Argentina type videos.
I’m giving the “black footjoys” a 9/10 on setup and delivery. Would’ve directed it as “Strapped boys gonna win the bonus with black 'joys on their feet”
I watched Strapped: Iowa before the premiere started, and it’s insane how far the guys have come, and what is possible for anyone with a vision and a willingness to do what they love and care about even when it’s cheesy.
West Texas was another example of the power of the video content bringing good people into the community, and more importantly our Roosts. Well done NLU fam.
I haven’t looked at runtimes on previous seasons, but the long form single episode felt like it had room to breathe.
We got to see some sights, a couple meals, some swashbuckling, and some interesting golf with a young man in jeans.
Big fan of the long form and I kind of want to see the other seasons re-edited into single episodes. The long single episode just flows really well.
I love how ChatGPT has called Strapped Jacksonville, which doesn’t exist, an “underappreciated banger.”
As a Tech alum, this was such a fun watch and a top 3 Strapped season in my obviously biased rankings. Certainly makes me wish I had logged more rounds at Rawls getting punched in the face by Doakito rather than chasing the mega bonus at Shadow Hills. Great blend of earnest and slapstick dialogue/scenes and @djpie did a masterful job of weaving in the Chavez interview and FNL footage to bring a closing punch of energy to the last half-hour.
As an aside…not to pick on young swaggy Richman…but are we really to believe that he walked off the course with a chance to shoot 59?? I acknowledge the very real power of coeds and enchiladas but that got my spidey senses tingling.
The man shot under par while (presumably) playing on camera for the first time while wearing jeans. True menace. I choose to believe the story.
“You’re having chocolate chip pancakes…It’s a Wednesday.”
Yeah I’m not convinced. Might be a “The number gets lower every time he tells the story” type of situation
I definitely get the long form and not saying it was bad. But to your point, I don’t feel we got to see more “behind the scenes” type stuff because of it. I could be wrong though. Either way, I love it.
The joy I get from this series is something that is hard to explain. I have probably watched every Strapped series 5-6x and they get better each time. Without ever having met any of the NLU guys, I feel like I know Neil & Randy so well and I find myself nervous for Neil on the back 9 of the money round.
One of my favorite moments was definitely the burrito scene. Just some all around great acting. All that to say, I am grateful that the best little series in golf hasn’t gone away and even if we don’t get it as often as we would like, I am glad we get to enjoy it every few years.
