The Jaws book is weird as hell.
Lots of unnecessary fluff and weird B/C storylines. Only thing I would have kept was the Mayor being in serious debt to the mob, which was why he fought to keep the beaches open.
Also, been thinking about this further and I do not think I have read a bigger book/screenplay divide than The Legend of Bagger Vance.
Except for Last of the Mohicans. That was unreadable.
Rewatched SoCal tonight.
Made me want to root for Max again. Such a good dude.
Also, his back door eagle putt at Griffith Park was filthy. Maybe the greatest golf shot ever.
I loved this season because of that Sherpa they had, Scott? I think that was his name. His game inspired me so much.
Totally agree. The interview with Randy and Neil on the couch and Neil saying how much he admires Scott’s game only for Randy to quickly shut him down (“You’re never gonna play golf like that”) is an all-timer.
Rewatched Baltimore and New Mexico as I fought off a Spring flu this week.
Baltimore remains tour de Force. Such a vibrant set of episodes. Still think Louisiana is my favorite, but Bmore is the only one that challenges it.
New Mexico - originally this one was forgettable to me, but I really enjoyed it on rewatch. Not a top season, but gorgeous and made with love. Lot of great lines - like the later season of a sitcom when the cast really gets the timing.
“We invested on the front end and we’re gonna see that pay off here in Q4, which I like. You know who also likes that? Our shareholders. And that’s who we work for.”
The ketchup discussion in the van always kills me. “Chokepoints, man.”
“And it’s tarantula migration season!”
Hello Mr Chris
that’s a big chair you’re sitting in
“ how many did you get”
“3 of each”
“That’s it?!?!?”
“Sorry I don’t like fuckin stealing!”
The white Ray Lewis
“Well, that seems a little mean-spirited.”
Randy at Old South.
Which way? Movie > Book? Never read it.
Movie > book for me. Book was a little too “golf is a way to reach a higher spiritual plane” and that is not what I am into.
But for an example of the difference, I think there was 1 or 2 lines about Charlize Theron’s character in the whole book.
Hopefully Wayne Jenkins might make an appearance
