If we’re throwing out ideas, Strapped: Atlantic City would be fun
Seaview Bay Course (hosts LPGA ShopRite), Twisted Dune, and Ballamor. Probably a bit pricey for strapped but depending on time of year and the budget it might be doable.
Cheap, rundown casinos, beaches, boardwalk rides and food. I think Big would get a kick of out Lucy The Elephant. Also very convenient for Neil to get to.
There’s multiple separate threads for “content ideas” “strapped producer for a day” and “what would you like to see next out of NLU” - why don’t we have this discussion in any one of those and save this for actual updates on Season 12?
Alaska would be cool but I almost wouldn’t want it to be limited by budget. I think something more akin to how they are positioning the Argentina video would be better. The smaller scale Tourist Sauces where they show me everything, give me all the guides, eat at the best restaurants, go in a fishing boat etc.
As much as I love Strapped, Alaska is sort of a bucket list place, so just go balls to the wall on excursions
I’m gonna second the hell out of this idea. Those three are all tremendous golf courses. I played Lonnie Poole a week ago for the first time and absolutely loved it.
Plus, you get Big wandering around a few college campuses and the boys into a few cheap col’ beers. Would be a delightful Strapped location.
What if, instead of going to golf courses in these cities, they went to local restaurants and bars that serve awesome food?
They could go into the kitchens and the chefs and owners could talk about their background while making some of their signature dishes. and they could talk to the locals that have been going there for years about their favorite menu items. Then Neil and Randy could try the food, while saying things like 'BANG A LANG!" and “That’s a mega bonus right there!”.
They could call it Strapped: Restaurants, Driver-Thrus, and Bars
I booked a trip to Palm Springs with a friend for early June. Think this was 2016?
The weekend before it was mid-80s and too cold to swim in our pool here in Phoenix.
The weekend of the trip it was 115. Fucking summer in the desert.
We left on a Saturday morning and had an afternoon round at Shadow Ridge and I think the pro thought we were joking. No way he figured we were showing up for that tee time. But hell we’re from Phoenix, we’re used to it. We were the only people on the course and had a lovely, quick round.
Next day we played PGA West Stadium early, then had another afternoon round on an empty course in the afternoon at La Quinta Mountain.
The heat is brutal but when the course is empty and you’re in carts and you play in 2.5 hours it isn’t that bad. If you’re used to it. If you come from somewhere where hot is 95 then 115 could probably really fuck with your body.
I will say, the heat is worse in Palm Springs somehow. 115 in Palm Springs feels hotter than 115 in Phoenix. Lower elevation so more air pressure? I’m entirely spitballing and know nothing.
Palm Springs is only about 500 ft lower in elevation than Phoenix, not a meaningful difference. PSP is a little more humid though thanks to the Salton Sea, that may have been what you felt.
