Strapped - Peoria

I really agreee. I feel like I never know where Randy stands in relation to par but he looks like he’s striping it now, it’s pretty cool to see

I’m not going to go as far as to compare him to Gee Dub’s painting career, but fully agree that Randy’s game is really solid now. Awesome to see his progression play out right in front of our eyes. This can only bode well for Strapped trips to come.

Been watching this on repeat since last night

Neil whispering “go go go sit sit sit fuck” within a span of 3 seconds is my spirit animal.

I’ve been a fan of NLU for a long time, first with podcasts then with Tourist Sauce, but hadn’t bothered with Strapped until last night.

I now realize the error of my ways and have a lot of catching up to do…

Big Randy: “It looks like there’s some subtle nuances to these greens.”

DJ: Shows video of a green that’s just a flat circle.

Would love to have the entire Strapped catalog in front of me unwatched instead of waiting months and weeks for new releases! Not hugely important but watching in order would add to the progression of how they dial in the concept and you’ll see the birth of some of the running gags.

Now this green has subtly.

Absolutely fantastic episode. My only qualm with @MerchCzar is this: You were making THE BEST course management decisions before you called Soly. YOU WERE EVEN! The closing stretch of short par 4s should all have been iron off the tee. Terrible decision to pull driver. Then to have the audacity to say you were proud of your choices at the end of the round is a slap in the face.

I’m actually jealous

Big Randy got dropped from coverage earlyyyy. You hate to see it

Two different situations. On the back nine he needed to make up a stroke, then he needed to make up 3 strokes. He was chasing at that point.

I don’t want to say this show would be nothing without the pieman but good god that guy is world class at his job. Holy fuck, I’m just constantly stunned.

When @djpie cut the music out completely I felt my body tighten up. I knew what was coming already. Really set the tone.

Not just production value but also asking questions and giving talking points throughout the journey. As someone that is pretty internal in terms of thought processes, it’s next level to get a look inside other people’s process.

He bogied the par 3, but then pulled driver on the 300 yd par 4 14th and that’s where he double bogied in the bush. He had 5 holes, with 3 par 4s under 300 yards, to make up 2 shots (1 to get to even, 1 to get under). Driver was the wrong play there.

What a fantastic episode - @djpie @MerchCzar @Randy thank you for showing off central Illinois and doing it right! So good to have the Strapped boys back on my TV.

Before the Soly phone call, I genuinely thought Neil had a chance at it. But that phone call didn’t go well. Soly the villain strikes again!

And a special kudos to DJ for the overall filmmaking/production. You continue to step up your game each and every time out. The drone shots, the quick cuts of golf shots, and this time the editing to cut back to Neil’s thinking pose and past Icarito experiences was just brilliant.

Finally, love that we’re getting Peoria musicians as the soundtrack this time. Steady Flow especially sounds fantastic and so much fun.

We all want Icarito to break par. Do we think that Soly has a point if they keep going to some these courses? I’m not saying he needs to play par 70 at 7,000 yards or more, but there is some validity to the argument of the rating being a 63 in that episode. I loved the question posed about having a qualifier on the end of the response. What would be a good general metric? Obviously every course is different and you can’t just put a blanket statement for all courses. Just curious if I am the only one who hears the yardages and ratings and feels like there should be some guidelines placed on the MEGA bonus?
