Strapped - Peoria

Fair point, I just think that the videos need to be a good mix of personalities and fun golf.
I was suggested NLU by a friend and my first experience was watching strapped Iowa where Randy skanked two hybrids into the water on the first hole. I paused it and told my buddy, I don’t know if I can watch this. He assured me it was worth it.

Fast forward three years and I’m paying $85 for one of Randy’s shirts in a fundraiser for junior golf, that’s just wild right there.

Maybe there is some B roll of me hitting shanks at Caledonia.

That should help the high cappers feel better. Look, one of us had to play left handed to score like you!

(I don’t want to watch a series of people playing to bogey hcps on nice courses, please don’t change).

@djpie don’t get crazy on us, I’m just glad you didn’t have a camera on you at the par 3 course where I was the only idiot lugging around my entire bag and getting beat by @palmerwood52 who only had a 9 iron.

yup! Some of us need to celebrate our comfy bogeys!

I mean … that SOUNDS amazing if you can make it happen.

To be crystal clear, I’m more excited about Tourist Sauce: Oregon than most anything recently. Can’t wait.

But in all honesty as someone who has improved to a 13 (and is now receding like the tides) seeing @Tron actually play well as a left-hander is both awe inspiring and deflating since he’s already better left handed than many of us were with our natural swing. I get that it’s not your job to highlight shitty golfers, but I do think it’s notably missing and again, without sounding like someone kissing your butt, I’m fairly sure you would know how to film and edit that in a way that made it work. (Hell, you made Erik Anders Lang seem like a fun guy just living his best life, and now on his own … that’s a different story.)

Anyway, I think you are guys who don’t care if you get paired up with “middle” handicappers and if there’s an opportunity to show what it’s like for us to play on these courses, that would be amazing.

Watching a high handicapper try to break 90 for the first time could be sick!

i dont agree with the majority of this but thats what makes the world go round none the less.

to me there would be nothing interesting about watching average or slightly above average golfers who shoot in the 90’s play these courses; just for a reference point i am a high single digit, so while able to be decent, i am by no means a LHC golfer

if you think that is entertaining, then by all means, head to your closest public golf course and sit there and watch groups come in one after the other and im sure you will be thoroughly entertained.

better yet, if you think it would make for such great content, grab a camera or a go pro, your phones, something and go film a round with your buddies, then upload it to youtube and show the world how entertaining it can be.

the only reason something like this should bum you out as you put it, is if you were being made to feel like you werent good enough to play with other members of the refuge, or if you felt like your skill set wasnt good enough to attend the meet ups and as a result you were an outcast, which i can assure you isnt the case at all.

hearing good golfer whine about their shitty round when they didnt break 80 is annoying, i fully agree with that…but its just because nobody really cares about your round, just like nobody cares and wants to hear about your fantasy football team or your NCAA brackets.

at the end of the day, just like any other sport, recreation, hobby, craft, skilly, whatever…good golf is far more enjoyable and more entertaining as a whole

Yeah, I’m not asking for a series focused on not great golfers. I’m glad YOU don’t want to see anyone of that ability play golf, but others might. I know I do.

Like, I think watching a video that includes an average golfer play a course alongside the NLU guys would be MUCH more interesting than, say, any Golfholics video. They’re all low single digits I think. But they’re douches, and annoying, and I know that DJ Pie would make it fun and the guys would embrace those golfers. Like, for instance, when @Double_Bogey_Dave played with them, I’m sure it was a good time had by all. Why not show a few more of those shots? I’m just saying it would make it easier for the rest of us.

While like the rest of you, I’ve now anointed @phegs32 as Life Goals #1, I think it would have been interesting to see someone join them who loves golf, plays all the time, and is working to break 80. That’s just like, my opinion, man.

Being there for one one of my golf buds breaking 90 for the first time was an absolute thrill. I couldn’t care less about what my score was going to be while I was intensely involved with his round.

At the end of the day, it really doesn’t matter. For the great majority of videos, we’re not seeing every shot people hit (which is somewhat boring, no matter the handicap). I mean, I’ve played with @djpie a couple of times, and—no offense to anyone—have seen him hit his share of high-cap-worthy shots. And he could probably cut the 4 or 5 decent shots I hit out of my 90 or so into a video.

Nah, it does NOT matter, you are right about that. I’m just expressing my own personal viewpoint (and based on my post, I’m not TOTALLY alone) that I’d like to see more of those kind of players join in. And see a few shots by them. That is all. I’ll watch regardless, of course.

Speaking personally as a higher capper, my annointment of Phegs is on a purely follicular basis.

to YOU. Just take one second and acknowledge that your view on this isn’t automatically the way everyone else feels.

This is also a good rule in life overall, for what it’s worth.

says the guy who felt it necessary to argue my opinion to start with…thanks for sharing greebs, this has been real productive

not only did you feel the need to argue my opinion, you also felt the the need to make sure everyone knew a 15 handicap was average or above average like some how that matter or was said otherwise.

I hear what you are saying and don’t totally disagree with this. But if it were true we would have never seen Randy get the shanks, DJ forget how to hit out of a bunker, or Neil airmail greens by 50 yards.

I wouldn’t want to sit and watch guys hack it around a course, but that doesn’t mean you have to be a single digit to be able to make good content. (s/o golfholics)
