Strapped Baltimore (Season 5) - @KVV rants about different shows

It’s one of 3 (Lexington, Cross St, and Broadway) old school markets downtown. The fresh Utz stands are the best.

Also, can we like DJ?

He made a deal not to talk about the mega-bonus until the 13th hole, and then on the 9th he starts talking and trying to keep it behind Neil’s back.

It was pretty clear that @soly fucked his head up bigly

Everyone who thinks Season 2 is bad doesn’t get what the show is really about and I will ride this take to the grave.

I lived in Locust Point in 2001-2002, and they nailed it in Season 2. The forgotten Baltimore that thrived after WWII until Bethlehem Steel closed and the Port slowed down significantly. Lieutenant Valchek had the best Baltimore accent I’ve ever seen on film.

Also Clement St Cafe was across the street from me, but I never saw Ziggy or a Duck at the bar. When the first introduced Ziggy, I thought it was my friend Bird for a minute until I saw how short the actor was.

  1. Pretty sure Strapped is my favorite tv show. I watched this with the same level of enjoyment of Fleabag Season 2
  2. The mention of an asterisk on the round, and @MerchCzar’s recognition that this reminded him of an older brother/younger brother argument was so on point. Between this recognition and @Randy’s from season 1 about being a timid quarterback hearing footsteps, they’ve got the analogies down.
  3. Can’t wait for more KVV in this series

100% on this. Also, if you rewatch the show even one time, it’s impossible to not fall in love with Season 2.

Season 5 on the other hand …

Completely agree - if Strapped added a hot priest they might be my number one…

I remember him tweeting something about loving Strapped. Which episode of the watch did he mention this?

Also, I’m enjoying this series for as long as I can before it’s presented by the ringer and Randy and Neil are sponsored by B4 Lumber, Google, The New Deadspin, Jumanjiii, and Peloton Golf.

Season 2 isn’t bad. Just not better than 1. It’s the best show ever in my opinion so it’s all good. Even though 5 got a little crazy.

Season 2 gets better and better with each re-watch. Anyone who rates it last I’m out on.

Season 5 usually gets my eyes rolling by about the 3rd episode. It has the sloppiest plot and thinnest characters. Using the newspaper as the focus should have been a slam dunk but most of the characters just weren’t very good and the material they were given was lacking. The send offs are great but the actual plot of season 5 is so far off brand with the other 4 seasons. Season 5 should be much more scrutinized then it is. Also Chris Bauer is great.

Hey! You leave @djpie alone!
I imagine it’s hard to know in real life how the story will play out so several potential script possibilities are filmed.

I think the narrative is consistent with documentary style filming. It seems okay to me to talk to the audience. Or at least something worth a try.

To my recollection they do always call in to c suite in previous seasons. Young Neils sense of the moment seemed real. Maybe too much smoking and vaping. Ha ha.

Watched last night and really enjoyed it. Winced and groaned with every putt on the back that didn’t drop. Really compelling TV.

Review from my wife whose favorite episode is Bring on the Pancakes: “That one wasn’t very funny”

Great going, guys. This is golf- and life-affirming stuff you’ve got here!

Some of those lip hanging putts were absolutely brutal.

Really enjoy the parts in this series when they get locals to talk about the course.

Neil took them down at Sweetens. As @Soly said, they have nothing left.

They don’t tell us where they’re playing so they can sneak in free rounds at semi-private courses.
