Eric is VERY upset that his favorite gritty, deceptively fast linebacker got ejected from the Championship game. Please send thoughts and prayers in this tough time.

He’s scrappy, gym rat, intelligent, lunch-in-a-pail kinda guy…

Yeah dude.

My trump loving, ELCA going, quilting granny was always trying to get me into get me into Joyce and Frost in particular. I’m not sure if it was due to her love for the written word, or her infatuation with her Irish heritage or both. But yeah, normal right wingers like poetry too

No, granny aside, (I’m sure I have an old Frost book collecting dust somewhere), what percentage of people are active fans of poetry? Not that they come across a poem on the internet every blue moon, but actively seek out poetry? Again, I don’t think I’ve ever had a single conversation about a poem and I don’t believe that everyone else is secretly harboring a burning passion for it. Who could name a single modern poet? It’s a completely irrelevant art form.

I’m guessing 0.47%.

I love that your definition of a poem is something that’s in a “poetry book”. We listened to poetry everyday - on the radio, on Spotify, etc.

Eric, it must really suck to live in a world where absolution rules. It’s either all or nothing with you. If YOU don’t like something, then how in gods green earth could someone else like it!!? Right? That’s a shitty way to live life. You come here everyday to “debate”. Yet you never, EVER say “oh ya, I guess that’s an interesting perspective. You’re right”. You call people names, insult their intelligence, pick fights, try to come across a lot smarter than you are, cite flawed and inaccurate statistics, double down on bad takes all the time and yet you continually come back to get dunked on. It really is amazing. You’re like Trump in a lot of ways - I want to dig deeper into you to see what’s REALLY going on with you. There’s got to be some fascinating, deep seeded reason you act the way you do here. And I cannot imagine you act this way in real life. You’d be homeless or dead if you did.

Ok so if we were to concede that people on here do not line up exactly with the majority of the golf world or even your average American , or even average human - why does it matter? So most people don’t like classic poetry or cricket as a hobby. Why does that make them wrong or why is that even an interesting point? I’d rather hear about someone’s strange hobbies and interests that I don’t know about than come on here and have the same dull conversations that I can have anywhere else.

No - let’s indulge and have a conversation like the majority has every day since that must be so much more interesting. “Welp gas prices are up 10 cents. It’s not as cold this year as it was last year. Weather changes every year. I went to wal mart yesterday and had bad customer service. I like football. I can’t believe the patriots lost. I can’t believe how much kids are on their phones these days.” BORING. What am I missing? Please enlighten us and give us something interesting to talk about that doesn’t involve just trying to tear down what someone else likes.

What do you like that is so much more imperative to be discussed on this message board that we are missing out on? So far we have Airplanes, golf, skiing, Huey Lewis, and being mean to people on the internet.

I’m so happy I’ve ignored ED. And I don’t even have an urge to un-hide some of his responses

I do like Huey Lewis, so I’ll give him that.

I will say we are handling the trolling much better this week. Maybe the Refuge is starting to learn?

This is perhaps the most telling thing you’ve posted on this site (though I can’t say I’ve read everything). The fact that you legitimately think you are safe to make these types of assumptions about people tell me that your perspective on the world is either very much out of touch, or very much in a bubble (often these go hand in hand). I, personally, break many of the stereotypes that you describe with such certainty and I am pretty damn vanilla compared to many of the interesting, talented, unique and engaging people that I have come across in my almost 30 years of life.

Are we sure ED isn’t a 70 year old woman transplanted from the Victorian era? Who uses the term “polite society” that often? Maybe 4 people on the planet?

There is a word that he really means that rhymes with polite but I can’t put my finger on it…

Maybe he owns this restaurant and is really picky about his clientele?

Would be a damn shame, reviews are pretty good on Yelp.
