Strapped Baltimore (Season 5) - @KVV rants about different shows

What’s hilarious and impressive about that is the episode STARTS with Neil looking utterly beat down, and DJ asking him how the day went, and him laughing and shaking his head.

WE KNEW HE DIDN’T DO IT from jump street, and yet the great editing dragged us back in…

@KVV where do you play out of?

Eagles Nest off Dulaney Valley Rd.

It was recommended to me by a friend to watch Strapped. so I watched the first 3 Iowa episodes and then jumped to Baltimore (again by recommendation…I’ll be going back to watch the rest ASAP).

some thoughts:

@Soly …wtf man…so shady…raw…genius.

@MerchCzar…my man…you hit 3wood on every tee…is this not No Laying Up?

When you come to ATX to do Strapped and want a free caddie that can get over the dumpfest of Soly’s effing sabotage bull$hit…I’m know someone. And I can read greens.

Strapped Austin is almost cheating. Two loops around Hancock, one at Muny, and one at Mo Willie is only like $120 for 2 guys. Hell, they could do Hancock and Muny, then head out to somewhere crazy in the Hill Country with the remaining cash.

Mega Bonus to fund Neil and Randy on Sixth Street on a nice spring evening before school is out is the content we all need.

going to the hill country is required. the airbnb is going to be the problem. more expensive than the golf.

a trip to fredericksburg on the bachelorette party bus to save money would just be too good.

Although the abundant $2 margarita nights available in the city might tank the rounds…

I feel like that’s probably necessary…

we’ve all been there.

the more I think about it, they could forego an airbnb and negotiate a pretty legit stay and play package among any of the tent cities in and around austin.

saves money for rainey street and the food trucks.

I’m certain there are a number of UT fraternities that would gladly house them during Roundup. We’d get the added bonus of @djpie and @Randy staring on in horror as @MerchCzar inevitably becomes their king.

Not to do the work of the heroes who always point out that “There’s already a thread for this” but there IS a great thread where folks suggest what courses and whatnot Randy and Neil could do in their city:

It’s finals time in grad school, watched the first episode twice, once by myself, and once with my girlfriend while taking a break. She liked it so much we ended up also watching a few episodes of Tourist Sauce Ireland.

About @MerchCzar “He’s crazy, but like in a fun way, but also scary.”

About @Randy “He’s like my uncle, and I always want him to play well. Plus he’s so lanky. That’s fun”

noted. i’ll move over there.

@djpie @MerchCzar @Randy, as so many others have said, you are creating high quality television, reminiscent of early Bourdain (Cook’s Tour). You need to get more eyes on this stuff. If you haven’t pitched the show to Golf Channel and Travel Channel, what are we even doing here? Would immediately be the best original programming the Golf Channel has put out.

Shout out Late Stage Capitalism. I would imagine the media behemoths and their overlords would impose content controls that could potentially compromise the brand. At this stage of the game, the most important thing for the brand is to keep it authentic and keep it cool. Think how much less awesome this last episode would be if, in place of the interview and video of kids playing at a public muni, there was a lame ass force fed First Tee segment loosely analogous to the nauseating sponsor interviews we all vomit through on network telecasts.

I love the idea of pitching to non-golf / non-sports distributors, though. Netflix would be perfect. Everyone covets the young, affluent audience.

That’s what deal lawyers are for.

the golf channel would ruin it.

keep it raw.

CNN sucks. Did it ruin Bourdain? There actually are ways to write contracts that preclude interference with the content outside of a few predetermined things (limitations on profanity usually included). The idea that any creator should avoid even meeting with a distributor because of the assumption that the output will be unduly interfered with is hipster nonsense.
