Stanford Women's Golf AWITL: Now talking about Rachel Heck's Decision

She’s on the struggle bus on her first nine holes (42) and Stanford overall doesn’t have a lot of mojo.

Stanford up by seven with a round to go. Feeling mellow. Heck did get benched, though.

But Frank told me they were washed?

Forgive my ignorance, how does the day-to-day roster setting work while there’s also an individual stroke play tournament going on?

You can swap players out but then they become ineligible for the individual title and show us as tied for last on the leaderboard

It is going to be interesting following her whenever she decides to turn pro. Not to fluff NLU content anymore than I already do, who knew I’d have an interest in the NCAA golf whilst living in Hobart, Australia. Mind you she appears to be a generational talent which helps with bandwagon support I guess.

Apologies @FrankWalker, life got busy over the past few days and wasn’t able to make it out to Grayhawk. Wanted to make sure you knew Rose won individual NCAA champion again and Stanford is the one seed going into match play. Hope you’re well.

The NIL stuff makes it an interesting question. But at this point what more does Rose have to do as an am? She’s literally won every “major” tournament: girl’s junior, women’s am, ANWA, 2 NCAAs. She has the school record for most wins (in the fewest starts too). I have to think she turns pro after this week, but who knows, with NIL she doesn’t “need” the money.

Not sure if it’ll be elsewhere but it looks like the QF (noon eastern) and Semi’s (4pm eastern) will be on the 'Cock at the very least today.

Assume she needs to visit Q-School to get a card? Might well see this year out, see if she gets a card at Q-School, and if not stay as an Am for next year?

Not sure how long else she has left at Stanford for her studies, and I am oblivious to the US Education system, so maybe she just stays until she has her degree etc and then turns pro. Has to be a chance than winning gets boring though, right?

This is no longer an option for AMs. If you want to play Q school with the option of turning pro at the end of it you have to declare pro before the tournament starts. Which I think is a good change honestly.

I agree with your sentiment. There has to be a chance that winning gets boring. She knows where the competition is.

Didn’t know this…makes sense though!

Stanford could be in trouble this morning.

Rose very much took care of her business but Ganne is getting housed and the other matches are tight.

What a shot for Englemann on the 16th!

How long has Emilia Migliaccio been in college? Is she going for a PhD in amateur golf studies?

Womens golf’s ‘Stetson Bennet’. 6 years no degree. All about the sport.

Disclosure: I have no evidence to support this claim.

IIRC She took last year off but still had a year of eligibility. Came back as a grad student this year.
