Sisterhood of the Traveling Refugee Sunday Bag

Alright y’all, my time with the traveling Sunday bag is currently wrapping up, so I figured I’d give a wrap up as I work out the details with @TCRBrad to get it shipped up to him.

The first round I took the bag out with my future father and law and my future sister in law’s boyfriend. We played Harrison Hills in Attica, IN (the bags first round in Indiana). It started off great until the 14th hole when it got extremely cloudy and we ended up getting the horn that ended our day as we hit tee shots on 17. I did get by far my favorite picture with the bag that day though.

Next, I took the bag for a spin around my home course playing with a half set. It was absolutely a delight and realized that I play a lot better when I just hit the dang shot instead of focusing so hard on a yardage (didn’t use my range finder the entire round).

Finally, this past Sunday I took the bag out to the High Cotton Club Roost Extinction event at Park Mammoth in Park City, KY (first round in KY for the bag I believe). We ended up with 31 guys out there for an amazing event followed up by an Alt Shot derby! Unfortunately, I got to wrapped up in the event and forgot to take any pictures with the bag, but @DE3 took the amazing pictures below of a truly amazing new course!

Hey @mnkinn12

Are you going to be home throughout the 9th - 15th?
I can next-day the bag from Chicago out West today…but there’s always a chance it gets stuck by a day and doesn’t make it on time.

Next daying is likely not going to be fun for your wallet. I think depending on how far it has to go, people have spent anywhere from $50-$110 next daying it.

What if it’s not MY wallet? #CompanyUPSAccount

The bag has made it safely back to Bandon. Looping it around the Preserve is something special.

My in-laws who know nothing about golf gave me a big bag of old golf balls they found at a yard sale. After sifting through them all, I thought it would be fun to pick a ball that best describes each of the dads. My goal is to have 5 balls travel with the box, but if along the way you have a ball that better represents one of them please swap it in/out.

If this gets to 10 likes, these balls are ending up in the fire pit tonight.

That moon one is kinda sick. I used to collect logo balls (nerd) and that would have been a top shelfer.

Hah, now I just need to get it back. Maybe for Landmand if I can get a tee time.

Woah now, mister. That’s awfully close to “PGA Tour dickrider.” Slow your roll.

Took the bag around a loop in my Tuesday league last night at Jeffersonville (Donnie Ross gem). Got smoked up, down, left, and right in my match but man was it fun to carry and talk about. Most of the dudes in the league know about the bag so they were pumped to see it in person.

Our annual Ryder Cup style Tournament up in State College this weekend will be the real test of the bag’s luck!

** @djpie voice ** Hell yeah

Just saw this post, but what’s wild is: I have that same Spalding ball. I wrote a story about a collector in Chicago a bunch of years ago and he gave me the same one as a parting gift. What a world.
