Roll Call: Wisconsin - We're So Back

Sorry, life has been extremely busy.

At the moment, no. Between putting a deposit on a Bandon trip and flights/etc for a trip to New Zealand on our cc, I need to hold off on booking this.

If anyone else wants to take the lead, by all means, otherwise I’m probably looking at late December before I can.

Did you talk your wife into any golf?

My future BIL and I have three tee times booked and I’m aiming for one more. Sadly none of the “big” NZ courses (Kauri Cliffs, Cape Kidnappers, Tara Iti), mainly due to location/schedule, but they are also expensive as all hell.

Paraparaumu Beach
Royal Wellington

Hoping to get on Titirangi as well, but they aren’t returning my inquiries…

Absolutely no issues! Wanted to make sure I didn’t miss out.

I’ll take the lead on getting something organized. How many did we end up being in? I’ll call tomorrow and see what’s available

My count is between 3 and 4 tee times based on the poll.

I also have a push for a post “ope” round with what is shaping up to 3 tee times currently.

I’ll call tomorrow and see what is available in the early season, and then go first come, first served based on how many back to back times we can do

I did see the Ope-in post round, but I wasn’t going to be able to swing more golf that weekend.

Are we thinking just golf or staying over? Stay and play?

Erin Hills top two cheese curds I’ve had thus far in my time as a Wisconsinite.

I need to know what the other one to appropriately judge your curd credibility.

The Boathouse in LG. Best in LG area easily.

Homemade battered in house etc. Excellent.

Boathouse is good, Lakefront is very good.

I haven’t had Lakefront. Will add to list.

This is very correct. My wife will die on the hill that Lambeau has the best cheese curds…

At least she dies on a hill, no need to carry her body up there.

I’ll lean into some more cheese adjacent content, Packers edition. A buddy of mine went to a Pack-Eagles game at Philly once and snuck in a shitload of Kraft singles and slung them around the stadium the whole game. He was given a police escort out at the end, not for getting kicked out, but because they were so worried the Philly fans were going to beat his ass.

I called Erin Hills this morning and booked 3 consecutive tee times for 5/21, the latest they had with their reduced rate on the weekend before memorial day.

Date - 5/21/2023
Times - 10:48a, 11:00a, and 11:12a (12 current spots)
Price - $315pp (not including caddy or caddy gratuity)
Will require pre-payment with the number of tee times booked to lock in a spot, but will be refundable 30 days out (4/21)

I’ve added a sign-up sheet, below. I have added names that expressed interest in the thread above (not from the poll). Go ahead and add your refuge handle, name, and handicap. As we get more than 12, I’ll add tee times as available (they said that they had some more available in the morning with a group or two between the blocks).

They also said that they classify three time times together as an event, so there may be an opportunity to add hole events, food/drink at halfway house, etc. I should learn more when I get contacted by their event person, and we can collectively brainstorm.

I added your names based on the previous conversation - feel free to delete yourselves if you won’t be able to make it, but wanted to at least guarantee you first right of refusal
