Anyone going to TFE event next next Monday?
Hello Wisco Contingent. Iām heading out to the Appleton area to visit an old college friend. This is a rather uncharted area of WI for me, so looking for any suggestions on where to play! All we have so far is Oshkosh CC, trying to convince him to hit Lawsonia, but he doesnāt like to shell out that much for golf, so hopefully that gives some idea of price range.
Thanks in advance!
Reid is a muni that I havenāt played for years, but remember it being everything youād expect from a muni. Chaska out in Greenville has always been enjoyable when I have played it, though it has been a bit there too. I remember Winagamie been short but enjoyable too.
Private, if itās an option, would North Shore, which is absolutely fantastic, as well as Butte Des Morts are great choices.
Royal St Patrickās in Wrightstown might be worth a look as well.
Sentryworld golf course not opening this year. For those keeping score at home, thatās 2 full years of it being closed.
Good to be an insurance company with too much money.
I will second Reid and Chaska in Appleton.
Iām in between Green Bay and Appleton, but much more familiar with courses in Green Bay.
If you want to make the drive a bit north you canāt go wrong with either Brown County or Thornberry Creek. Both should be ~$50 / round (depending on timing) and an enjoyable round. Sadly, one of my favorite courses in the area has gone under after being destroyed by a tornado a couple summers ago. Royal St Patrickās is decent. Great food / beverage selections. Decent layout. But the greens are incredibly flat and boring (and some of the holes are a bit repetitive).
I wish I knew more about the gems in the Appleton area, so Iāll be paying attention to other recommendations.
DAMMIT! Iām moving to Texas in October and I really wanted to play it before I left.
As far as āpremierā WI courses go, Iād put sentry at tier 3. It sucks you wonāt be able to play it, but hopefully the FOMO isnāt too big.
No, no FOMO about not playing Sentry, itās just annoying to live so close to it and never have gotten a chance to play it, thatās it.
Gives you an excuse to come back and see all of us nut jobs some day and play some better courses too.
Oh, Iāll definitely be coming back, some damn good golf around here.
On a side note, played Wild Ridge in Eau Claire last weekend and boy, that place is nice!
If you need a contact, I can probably get you on Horseshoe Bay. Itās fantastic
Gonna cross post here, so apologies if you see this more than once.
Iām looking at possibly doing 36 at Sand Valley-Mammoth Dunes August 15th, and Iām looking for 3 others to join in. I canāt book it until Saturday, so just putting the feelers out there. PM me if interested!
Hey! Trappers joined the 21st century!
Now all they have to do is redesign their course and everything will be great!
I decided to let someone else make that joke. Happy it didnāt take too long.
When I think of Trappers, I donāt think pine tree.
Trappers generally makes me think of this:
