Roll Call: Wisconsin - Madison vs Milwaukee

Hawk’s View is the fun, casual facility in LG. Conditions will never be less than 7/10, clubhouse is cool, no one takes themselves too seriously there.

Play Como Crossings, get lunch and end the day on Barn Hollow.

Geneva National is usually going to be in the best of shape. Starters can be a bit prickly, members seem to be annoyed at the public. Courses all offer something different, the property is really great.

Grand Geneva is the worst of the three. It’s a soulless operation and the courses take on that feeling.

This assessment of HV and GN are perfect.

When I saw the WSGA was putting out a job application to basically play Wisconsin’s best courses, I figured I would throw my hat in the ring and give it a shot. I’m pretty certain I won’t be their final selection, but the process convinced to try to play some of the best courses Wisconsin has to offer. After graduating from UW-Madison on May 8th until I start full-time on October 7th, I will have quite a bit of free time to knock some courses off the list. If anyone has any suggestions, or courses I am forgetting, please let me know. I’m excited to see what happens!

Lake Geneva courses are light.

Hawks View is a must for this list. Any of the Geneva National courses before the Brute.

Impressive work, good luck with the application process.

I’d advocate for Fox Hollow and Trempealeau over Drugan’s and Forest Hills for public courses in the La Crosse area. Drugan’s is just kinda meh and you need a hard hat at Forest Hills with as tight as the course plays combined with how busy it is. Fox Hollow is a scenic walk and Trempealeau gives some variety being a course that’s not tree-lined on every hole.

Awesome list and best of luck on your application!

You might want to see about getting on at Stevens Point Country Club, I think they’re allowing some public access there, and I’ve heard good things about their course post-renovation.

I also strongly recommend making the absolute most out of your “last” summer break before entering the work world. This itinerary goes a long way toward that!

In talking to Billy, you might actually be exactly what they are looking for in terms of that intern. I got told they couldn’t pay me enough when I asked if I should apply. Best of luck to you!!!

Just popping in to remind everyone about The Windmill on 5/22. I’m aware of how long of a drive it is, but the course and area are a lot of fun. If you can’t make it, be sure to check out the prop bets: we’re compiling a list ways your fellow Nesticles can enable gambling habits

Got invited to play an event the Monday after The Ope-In at Bristlecone.

Is the course worth rolling the dice on another day away from the family?

I played Bristlecone a few years ago and really enjoyed it.

The back is great. The front is probably great too but we played the first nine in fog so thick that you had to take turns driving a cart up to the green and then aim for the tracks it made.

Rolling the dice, thanks.

It’s hosting the state Mid-Am this year, so I’m definitely interested in hearing more about it…

Going to be in Milwaukee for a last minute work trip tomorrow. Any recommendations for lunch spots to eat downtown or golf courses that I should check out after I’m done early afternoon?

Good city brewing, the mecca are good spots

Points East Pub has some of the best chicken wings I’ve ever had. Add to that their offerings of 3 Floyds beer and what more could you need?

Can attest Points East Pub. Must stop if you’re in the mood for wings.

Golf wise, Brown Deer Park is about a 15 min drive from there.

I will check it out. Can’t beat wings and beer!

If you want a burger, can’t beat Oscars or Sobelmans. Oscars beer selection is better.

@midwestgolfbum @Syvm64 Let me know if you still want to get out at WCC before the Am Qualifier

Shot 4 under 68 today at a small course in Winniconne called lake breeze. First time breaking 70. made 6 birdies. Im slowly realizing that golf is just hitting greens in regulation
