Roll Call: Wisconsin - Madison vs Milwaukee

??? You may want to consult one of The Lawyers of the Refuge to see if you can take that starter to court for malpractice.

I swear to God, our first time at the course and that was his advice.

Well sorry about that. Hopefully you enjoyed the course apart from that. I stand by my suggestion of staying below the hole.

Had the pleasure of playing with @blakehall today in round 2 of the state MidAm. While neither of us played all that well, we did (or at least I did) have an enjoyable time. Nothing quite like playing 18 holes of tournament golf in about 3:10.

For anybody wondering, the gui can play some golf. Hits it a long way, hits it straight enough, and is a hell of a lot of fun to watch navigate around a course.

It was definitely an enjoyable day, despite the poor play.

Maybe over the winter I’ll learn how to putt.

I’d be happy to share a round again any time Sir. Thanks for the kind words!

Going to Erin Hills in October with my father for his birthday. He and I are decent sticks, but my brother, just picked up the game this year and Ive never played with him before, is also coming. Any suggestions for him besides playing the White Tees? Dont want him to have an absolutely miserable time in the fescue all day.

The landing areas are fairly wide so if he plays the correct tees it shouldn’t be too terrible. I would also recommend that he plays away from the bunkers whenever possible (play the miss that avoids the bunker).

Have him watch the highlights from the 2017 US Open before you play. Order a Fescue Rescue, some cheese curds, and enjoy the view from the patio after the round. The golf takes care of itself.

Took advantage of a deal on TeeOff for Trappers at $37 yesterday afternoon with a buddy. Fun course. Lack of course knowledge really sucked. Nothing like hitting good shots to the wrong spots and getting penalized.

Course was in good shape. Pretty narrow farrows and huge greens. Definitely worth the price and hour-ish drive from La Crosse!

Had a fantastic outing at Lawsonia with 11 other Wisconsin guis yesterday. The weather was basically as good as you could ask for, the course was in good shape, and it seemed like everybody had a great time. Thanks to everybody who made time on their US Open Sunday to come out and play. Hopefully we can get at least a few things like it going next year.

I didn’t take any pictures really, but I know @chrisisoutrunning had some drone shots after the round he posted here: (Photo Gallery) Share your golf photos HERE

In our group I know @DWise took a good number of photos as well, so looking forward to seeing what come from those.

We are up to 18 signed up for the match play, and would love it if we could get even more over the winter. Here is the link for anybody who might not have seen it prior or just don’t want to go digging all over for it: [Wisconsin Refugee Matchplay](https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScx3QAoCgWT4f2xlY3RKq8VqJfBvLegmJeg7HDllGAff_NYzg/viewform?usp=sf_link 41)

Just throwing this out there in case anyone is looking for a reason to take a day off (hopefully) before winter sets in.

I’m taking October 12th - 16th off from work. The Monday and Thursday of that week I could theoretically be gone (from Madison) all day, while Tuesday/Wednesday/Friday I would need to do daycare drop off/pick up, so would be able to get away between 8 and 4:30.

A day at Sand Valley has crossed my mind. Maybe sneak something in at Kohler. I’m looking at playing LLB on the 11th with a friend already (if anyone is interested, let me know).

It doesn’t look like anything overnight will work unless things completely change.

Anyone have any thoughts on what I should do with my week? Anyone want to meet up?

I would say getting up to Sand Valley would be one of the best options for a day trip, even more if you haven’t headed up yet this year. Heading back up to Green Lake wouldn’t be all bad and you could play 27 at Mascoutin or do an all day at Lawsonia and loop both. Kohler would be down on my list that time of year given the proximity to the lake and the chance that it could be 45 and have wind coming in off the water.

I would normally say some play NS and/or I would join you, but I’m spending that week in Door County with half of Illinois to look at the pretty leaves.

Brand new to The Nest and love to see all the Madison golf talk the other day as a newer resident! Signed up for the match play next year and am looking forward to it!

Any other reviews of Lac La Belle? Thinking about trying it late October on my way to Lawsonia.

Played LLB on our way home from Lawsonia. Only negatives were we booked caddies and they didn’t show. Carts weren’t allowed out and they were out of push carts.

Everything else is supreme. Facility is great, clubhouse and bar really nice. Practice area and putting course are very cool.

Course itself is still growing but highly playable. Bunkers are great with furry edges. Back 9 was a bit stale until you got to 17 & 18.

I’m trying to play it again this year because I think the rates are going to be significantly more next year.

Where should I stay near Lawsonia or Lac La Belle. Lawsonia stay and play is sold out.

There’s a ton of places in the area (green lake) on things like Airbnb. My fiancĆ©es family rented a place earlier this summer and we found things from single rooms strapped style to houses that slept 20+.

Stayed here a couple weekends ago. Perfect for a foursome.

Is anyone interested in playing the University Club of Milwaukee on 10/14? Wife is taking the day off since we have Bishops Bay the day before and 2 rounds at Erin Hills after. Looking to make a tee time in the morning around 9, and since I’m now alone figured I’d throw it out there.
