I’ll be at the Factory sometime around 730. Looking forward to seeing where the magic happens!

I am looking to plan a trip to Milwaukee to play courses close to there. Does this thread have any recommendations for me? This would be late June.

We can certainly have a ton. What kind of trip is this? Strapped? C suite? Something in the middle? How much are you willing to drive?

So much more on the strapped side. I want to play sand valley or the straits but not looking for that this time around. Closer to Milwaukee is best. Thanks for the response.

I hear Milwaukee CC and Blue Mound are nice…

Eagle Springs, Spring Valley, Washington County, and the county courses fit the strapped style of things for the most part.

If you ask The @SupperClub I’m not qualified to answer anyway.

Adding to that list, Brown Deer is a muni, former Tour stop and home of ā€œHello, world.ā€

That’s part of the county courses, but probably smart to call it out specifically

mke.golf is the website for Milwaukee County’s muni courses. Which are genuinely really good. Crown of the lot goes to Brown Deer, as @ChiFFI mentioned. But Oakwood is also a good track and hosted State Am qualifiers a year or two ago. Curry Park is a favorite of many as well.

Other than that, to the surprise of everyone, @midwestgolfbum actually made a decent Strapped list.

That said, as a fellow pampered fuck, not sure you can take my word as gospel on the matter.

Thank you! Love a good county course. Hoping to hit a brewers game as well.

Yes it is, and I have an update, as I played the West course after work yesterday. The hole designs are really cool but the course is NOT in great shape right now…even for early spring. It was kinda a bummer because both courses have SO MUCH potential. Championship-caliber design and layout, but the fairway was just very patchy and in rough condition. Like a sponge with nowhere for the rain to run off to. Greens were also very bumpy and inconsistent. Slow as shit and impossible to judge pace between that and the bumps and inconsistent length. I’m usually very fair when it comes to judging public courses because I know resources aren’t always as available as other places but with as much tax money as the City of Madison pulls in each year, there’s not much of an excuse. I’m hoping its just bad early year conditions that they plan to improve, because like I said, the potential is there. But overall, I was a little disappointed. Payed $23 for nine holes but, honestly, I’d value you it closer to $10-11 compared to other area courses.

If you are willing to drive a bit outside of the metro area broadlands or Morningstar are both fun courses to the west, or drive north and go to the bog.

This post should have all the info for you.

On your Yaraha review. Expect almost nothing from that place for a while. They are cutting down to 18 holes in the next 2 years, combining things between east and west. The place has been uninspired, boring, and mediocre for years, so hopefully the cut down to less holes helps.
