Roll Call: Wisconsin - Madison vs Milwaukee

#6 at LL is a very cool reveal, especially when they don’t have the tees moved up

If we need a par 3, #6 at Maple Bluff in Madison might be one of the hardest par 3’s in the area. And it’s got some variability too. I’ve played it from 210 to this narrow green and I’ve played it at 130 from the right side to the back right pin leaving about 10 feet front to back to land the ball. Oh, and it’s two tiered right in the middle of the green and usually plays into a west wind.

I was gonna throw out some par 4’s on my list but I agree we need a 3 eventually. Sort of cheating, but Blackwolf Run Championship Course #6 (Meadow Valleys 14). Amazing and scenic par 3 with one of the best views and craziest greens I’ve ever seen that can play tons of different ways depending on tees and pin. This is also famously where American amateur Jenny Chuasiriporn began to cough up her 4 shot lead to Se Ri Pak in the Monday 18 hole playoff of the 1998 US Women’s Open making triple on this hole losing her ball to the left. Still bummed she didn’t win, as a 7 year old I was lucky and met her and Se Ri Pak in a practice round that week.

Even found my hat from that week, that Open helped put the Kohler Courses on the map

This might be one of my favorite par 3s for sure.

For a 5, I’m with @ajvhandel

This is the obvious way to make par, from experience.

For a 4, Hawks Landing 6 is a fun hole. Decisions to make off the tee, a green that is big enough and interesting enough to have options for pins and penalties for not being in the right spot, and some challenges if you miss that green.

My honorable mentions for hole 6 non 3’s are Pine Hills #6 which is a par 5. Tee shot high point of the property that is reachable in two. Plays downhill to a cool green tucked into the pine trees. My other is Mammoth Dunes #6 par 4, there is nothing quite like that green.

I really like Grand Geneva hole 6 on the Brute.

I honestly think that’s one of the more “blah” holes on that property. Maybe it’s because I’ve hit driver wedge into it too many times, maybe because it fits my little cut really well, but that’s just me.

I just think it’s cool you start with such a high point shot and it’s downhill into the trees, but admittedly I don’t hit it nearly as far as you do. Also just had to get Pine Hills on the board somewhere, I’ll fight harder for the next two

Isn’t the Par 3 #7 at SV?
(That green )

#7 on SV is a Par 5 with bunkers running down the left hand side and cutting off the lay-up, with bunkers challenging right off of the tee

I think you could reasonably say #7 LL, #8 SV, and #9 at EH could all win a place on the list (although #8 is BMGCC for me)

I think you could reasonably put 3 Par 3’s, 3, Par 4’s, and 3 Par 5’s a la back nine at LL

#7 on SV (the real SV right, @PTM) is a Par 3…

Old 18 used to be dog water, new 18…

Old 18 was not great, but just was a low rope draw that you let the ground do the work. Wasn’t great, but it’s not that much different now unless you’re playing a scramble and have a safe one out there.

All, please forgive an Ohio gui in here. I played the front 9 at SV (Salem) in September and thought it was fantastic.

That’s not a real place.

This is correct, kind of a stinky par 3 honestly.

The 6th at SV deserves honorable mention, it was probably a great hole back in the day.

  1. Secret tee box
  2. Great L&M green complex

Rest of the hole is overgrown.

Having absolutely nuked a 2 iron and 4w to get to that green before, agreed.
