I did this for a few years. It was great. Got a buddy to do it too, since a lot of the passes were (not sure if they still are) 2 for 1, and doubled up on some of the courses. The year they had Erin Hills in the book was the best!

What’s the snow situation like over in the homeland? I live in Minneapolis these days, but am curious if any courses in the Madison area might be opening soon?

I’m assuming that most of the snow will be gone here in Madison this week (it has been raining all day and we have highs forecasted in the 50s for most of the week).

As far as courses opening, I’d assume Bridges will be open very soon, followed by a few others that just want whatever money they can get.

I’d expect most of the public courses to be open by the weekend of the 20th-22nd.

URidge is currently scheduled for a 4/17 opening, but that could move up if the weather warms up. They still need to finish bunker work on 4-6.

What club?

Oshkosh

Walked 27 holes this weekend - little chilly, but not too bad. Really hoping that if we continue toward these widespread closures at least courses will stay open if you can pay online and not have to interact with anyone. Anyone else able to get out?

I wasn’t able to this weekend, hopefully I will get out next weekend, shutdown dependent. Where did you play? How were course conditions?

The Oaks in Cottage Grove - sort of becoming my home track. Not very green, but decent conditions for mid-March all things considered.

I’ve seen a number of people out at Lake Windsor in the past week or so too. With a little sun it wouldn’t be too bad to play out there.

Hit some range balls and practiced putting a bit (but you knew that from our IG exchange). What did you think about The Oaks charging $50 for 18 holes? I overheard the price when getting the bag of range balls. Took me back a bit.

I mean, I’m assuming there were plenty of people willing to pay that, but damn, that feels like highway robbery.

definitely with it this early in the season but people are dying to play, so I guess supply and demand.

Yep - I chalked it up to supply and demand. But man, there was snow in the bunkers and not even thinking about mowing the grass yet. Seemed like a money grab move. To be honest, I have a very complicated love/hate relationship with The Oaks.

I’ve probably said it here before, but generally I think it is a decent course. That being said, some of those holes on the front nine are way too close together.

I’ve only been out there a few times since I’m on the SW corner of Madison. It just isn’t worth the 30-45 minute drive to get there when I know I’m just going to get frustrated from the aforementioned annoyance.

That being said, I’d be happy to meet up with you guis out there once the world calms down.

Several of the holes there are definitely a bit of shooting gallery and you gotta remain alert.

I believe it is a course worth playing I agree with the sentiment it is a bit overpriced at times. For those locally that want to play it more cheaply, there are certificates you can buy at Costco. 18 with a cart for 2 for $70, which is like 60% off the rack rate.
