Roll Call: Wisconsin - Madison vs Milwaukee

Appreciate the heads up. I figured if the Senior PGA was going there it had to be more than just flowers. I hadn’t checked the rates yet, that might change things. We’ll see how things shake out once it gets closer!

I might even say try and play SPCC above Sentryworld, if you’re in the area

An official NLU event in WI in August!

Yeah, fuck me I guess, who also planned an event in checks notes August

The Ope is the 18th-19th? I think the NLU Event is the 21st?

This Bostonian might have to venture to Wisconsin for the first time for the “Ope”-in (waitlist permitting) and stay for the Erin Hills event in August

where are the events posted?

What a decision there

Also not included on the event list, which, you know, makes a guy wonder some shit.

Pretty sure the list is only NIT qualifier events but yeah, tough scene on timing, especially for the folks going to SV after

I’ve never really focused on the NLU events because the idea of competitive golf scares the shit out of me in the same way being at a blackjack table scares me (too many “rules” and “don’t fuck up the table” vibes), but is that typically what it costs to participate? I was not expecting that number.

For EH with a caddy and all your meals, the number doesn’t seem too unreasonable but still a lot for one days worth of golf.

Yeah I don’t disagree, but I need clarification on if “(Including some beverages)” is using the Wisconsin exchange rate or the non-Wisconsin exchange rate before I ultimately decide on value.

Also, play on “City of Festivals” or just a happy coincidence?

I thought the number was reasonable for what they charge. Now, you could argue that what they charge is unreasonable but considering the green fees are $345, Kettle Loop is $45 and caddie fee is $55 for the regular round and $45 for the kettle it’s fairly decent. That’s $490 just for the golf part, not including food, tee gifts, etc…

Totally agree and I get cost of putting on an event backed in too. I’ve just never really thought about NLU events and how much they cost. When I said I wasn’t expecting that number, it wasn’t good bad or anything in between as it’s certainly justifiable.

It’s definitely sticker shock but I know Golfer’s Journal is doing basically the same thing for $750 at end of June. So NLU bringing real value at $600! It sounds crazy but as called out above, relative to what you would pay off the rack for a day at EH its not a bad value. All of course in a relative sense to how you feel about paying $600 for a day of golf.

As has been stated many times by others recently, EH delivered way more than I expected. I assumed I would be a one-and-done, check it off the list type and probably not go back given the rate. But it blew me away. Won’t be there on a regular basis but will definitely make more trips in the future. And yes, very seriously weighing the NLU event. My guess is it will fill up very quickly.

Real “Look at me Louie” situation here but as someone who has played it in competition 10+ times and has guaranteed 2 rounds (hopefully 4) coming July of this year, I am still seriously considering it. Yes, $600 for one day is a lot but I don’t have to fly anywhere or get a room anywhere. That’s a big win compared to some of the other NLU events that I could attend.
