I got tickets for Tuesday/Saturday, trying to bribe my wife into letting me get a few more days from the second hand scene
Was just updating my info in spreadsheet and I realized I had never asked a question that was on my mind by the end of the āgolf yearā
My normal group and I, stumbled upon Farview GC (Avon, NY), toward the end of the year and we were dumb founded as to why we had not been playing it sooner. Designed by a Scotsman and then later purchased by him, It is now run owned/managed by him, his son, and 1-2 other staff. Its not going to be a Ravenwood/Deerfield as far as conditions go, again only 4 people maintain it. But the green sites imo are incredible, there are a lot of fun/quirky holes, it weaves in and out of the hills and has some amazing views (esp. in the fall). All of this for what could be the steal of the century, 18/cart at $28/$33, $45 will get you an all day, play as much as you want pass. The memberships is where the real bargain is, $459 for TWO years⦠its safe to say Farview has become my new home. Interested if anyone else in here has got a round or 2 in there yet.
Had not heard of it but will for sure check it out next year
They are also famous for being open late in the year. I have only played there a couple times. But i had nothing but great things about the owner and everything about the course.
Anyone in here ever played sadaqwada in Utica? Iāve been feeling nostalgic the last couple weeks and would love to get out there and play it. Learned the game out yonder!
my understanding from talking to the son is that its built on sand⦠which is why they get so lucky with water and drainage
Hey everyone my family just planned a summer vacation for mid-July in Dunkirk (have zero idea what to expect here other than cold beers). I havenāt had the pleasure of visiting this area and am hoping to get out a few times during the week I am there. Any recommendations for courses to play?
Luckily for you thereās not much else down there other than cold beers
Youāre not too far from Peekān Peak so thereās an easy one. Other than that Iām at a bit of a loss. Iām sure someone else will be able to toss some more recs your way
I went to school at SUNY Fredonia which is the college town outside Dunkirk. Go over there and hit up a brewery and get some food. Great little town. If you look on google maps there is course on Chautuaqua Lake still I believe which is probably about 45 min drive from Dunkirk.
Chautauqua Institution has two courses Hill and Lake. Lake was supposed to be restored a few years back but I donāt think that has started yet. Probably worth the drive for one or both. I have only played Hill but Lake is a Ross course that needs love.
You are only going to be an hour outside of buffalo, look at Diamond Hawk and maybe Grover Cleveland, if you can maybe someone will host you at Buffalo Country Club, doubt it but thereās always a hope.
It has not, no.
Def keep in touch. We have folks in Buffalo area. Hope long and are you willing to drive to play?
Appreciate it, will definitely keep in touch as the summer hits. Thanks!
Grover looks like a sick course definitely will have to add that to the itinerary
hosted the 1912 US open as well, so its got some history
All in on that! Is the course usually in decent shape?
I would say, yes, esp with how little money I think the city actually puts into it. I enjoyed every time I played it this year
Love that
Quintessential Buffalo Muni. Gotta play it if youāre there.
