Oh Man I was thinking about looking into playing next year… 7 hours… really? Damn
It’s because day 2 at chambers they play the higher handicappers first, at least that’s what they did last year. Also, there’s always a bunch of dudes who have no need being there that just stink.
Just @me next time wtf
I haven’t played it since I had kids and it was just spanaway. Fun event. There is a great rotation in the April/May/June timeframe (jblm amateur, Bremerton city, puget sound, loomis/semiamoo, desert canyon). I look at the tournament listing on the pnga site wistfully some times, but I don’t do weekend tournament golf anymore, wife would kill me if I was gone all weekend and left her with our wonderful monsters.
Nahhh dog. I mean like some old dudes who just wanna feel young. And there is also dudes who only do it because they can play chambers. I watched everyone tee off last year when they played Spanaway and it was such a blast. Good cappers first and as the day went on I saw how bad some of these dudes are lol. There were about three dudes who pull hooked one into the trees by where the carts are parked. So think about that when you get on the first box
For real though if anyone wants help planning the course out let me know. I could talk you through the lines off all the tees and how best to score there.
You always go for it on #5? (That’s the first par 5, right?). From the blues I always end up right where that bunker 30 yards short left of the green is really possible. Been toying with the idea of taking 3w up and over and bailing left to that flat area in between the green and the par 3 tee box haha
Always go for that one. You can hit an extra club if needed because there is room around it. The layup is awkward and can get funky if you don’t put it in just the right spot. You can miss left and be good. Right is dead.
#13 is the only one that is dependent if you go for it or not. It’s guarded by the trees so you have to be careful so most of the time a wood going in is good. If you layup you can bring the branches in with a wedge.
Yeah kind of what I figured, will just depend on the angle coming in but I’ll take a 3w at it if possible.
Yeah #13 is interesting, there’s nothing wild short so I’ll take a 2 iron up to 40 yards out or something if possible
Yeah. I mean there are a few holes I would play as bogey holes and just accept that and be okay. You have 12 and 14 at the top of that list. Those are good bogey holes. Par is great but just assume everyone is making bogey.
Also I would highly suggest hitting balls tonight in the rain/wind. Sunday forecast doesn’t look great and I think this wind is gonna linger.
I like that, 12 for sure. Is 14 the par 3 over the water?
Correction I meant 15. 15 is the dog left left uphill par 4. Trees and fence line on your left. Yeah 14 is the short par 3.
Ohhh ok yeah, that makes more sense. Pretty easy driving hole from the blues but if you flare it you can have a long way coming in up the hill
It’s an interesting course! First 9 is super-old (want to say 1910s) and is very park-like. The back is so different and feels a little out of place with the front. Still fun, though.
Looking for best reccs on rainy day/wet condition courses. I have the few I normally play in the “winter,” but would love other recommendations. Down for a bit of a drive (from Woodway). Thanks!
@davidc , @rabsie , @cqueen … Need an update on the PS Am… maybe not Shot by Shot, but at least your takes.
Ok maybe Shot by Shot
I didn’t play but I was thinking the exact thing. Also if everyone has seen the weather, winter is coming…
