Gross. Go Cougs.
Hate to see it. Although I did play golf at circling raven last week with a professor from WSU who is an avid speed golfer (literally sprinting and golfing). That was pretty sick. Said there is some serious administrative failure over there around COVID. Cougāed it?
Gold Mountain Cascade course $26 at 2pm. Anyone in?
75 yards from Russ in 20 seconds? Sick!
Alright folks, this is going to sound like a hypothetical but itās not. If you had to choose playing both 18s at Silvies or your favorite Bandon course, which would you choose? My wife and I are driving back from Tahoe and breaking up the drive into 3 days.
Day 1 - Tahoe to Silvies or Bandon
Day 2 - Silvies or Bandon to Cannon Beach
Day 3 - Cannon Beach to Seattle
Silvies is close enough that I could get in an afternoon and morning round while there. Bandon is a bit further so I could only get in a morning round.
Help. Me. I. Am. Frozen.
Tough scene. Just got back from a big road trip with my dad through Oregon and Idaho. Silvies was pretty unreal. The golf (both looks at it) was awesome, but what really blew us away was the service, setting, food, etc. Maybe staying overnight with the wife is the play? We did the razor tour of the ranch it was 10/10
Also, if you only have one day at silvies you wouldnāt get to see both routings because it switches each day. If you have to miss out on that it might not be worth it?
Iād take the round at Bandon. Simply because the actual drive to/from Silvies is a brute. I live a little over 90 minutes from Silvies. Itās pretty desolate. Unless you back a detour to the painted hills.
I think the wife would enjoy being on the coast and driving 101 up. Mine would rather do that, so Iām just making the assumption all wifeās are the same.
Just got back from a 6 hour slog on the Olympic course at Gold Mountain. There is no fucking reason it should take that long. But here we are⦠course was a bit moist, but in fantastic shape otherwise.
Got to play behind a charter member whoās been there since they opened up. Dude was 82 and hitting down the middle of the fairway like the ball had a magnet on it. Iām guessing he shot better than my 90ā¦
The camera really does make it seem lighter than it actually was. 17 and 18 was played in virtual darkness. Iāll put up with all of this for $26.
Also FYI, they are sanding and punching greens starting tomorrow and Tuesday. Both courses.
So I just got done listening to the latest Nest Pod. And they were talking about looking forward to 2021. One of the things they talked about wanting to see was more events that involved rivalries (paraphrasing here).
What is everyoneās thoughts on a Washington vs Oregon event? I have zero knowledge on planning or executing events.
You could pick a neutral location like Silvies, Wine Valley or Gearhart? Maybe one event in Oregon and one in Washington? Make it a 36/54 hole team event. Maybe Ryder Cup style? Just brainstorming here. I know there are refugees here who more experienced in this sort of thing. Curious on your input. I know the Oregon thread is pretty desolate so maybe it isnāt executable.
Rambling over.
Sounds awesome. Iām new to the refuge/nest but hoping to get #involved in this Washington thread. Would love to explore something like this or even general Washington things.
Getting involved here in this thread for the first time. Seattle native, lived in CA for the past 9 years and real nice to be back. Iām in grad school at UW, so time will probably be a bit hard to come by, but looking forward to meeting errybody
Love this thought. @MrVinegar206 and I are already talking about a Washington weekend in May but otherwise open to helping with whatever. Could also try to throw this event at a neutral site as we try to re organize our canceled Couer dāAlene event ![]()
Welcome back! What are you in school for? Also anyone interested, hit me up and I can get you in the PNW WhatsApp thread, its been slowing down with the season change but a good spot to talk local golf and find games.
Just watch out for the Canadian interlopers!
PNW crew is an inclusive welcoming bunch
Look, a wild Canadian suddenly appears!!
We have a Cali gui in there too, so this is very true haha
After yesterdays round in the wet I decided my Nike Rosheās are not ideal for the coming months. Anyone have any good suggestions for a spikeless waterproof shoe that will actually work up here? I donāt trust most others suggestions as out wet is another level.
Iāve been looking at some trail based shoes as an alternative. Let me know what yāall have that had worked.
I have a pair of black originals from TRUE that I wore yesterday, they held up great. I like supporting the local guys
