Roll Call: WA (PNW Crew)

Any of these days is open at the moment.

Just a thought on a March event, over in Sequim is Cedars golf course. Sequim is in a rain shadow, gets about as much rain as Los Angeles in a year. Course is fun, but nothing special, then you can go to the 7 Cedars casino and make all types of mistakes that evening.

Gold Mountain Olympic Course might far and away be the best public course in the immediate area of Seattle, especially when considering price. They once had the state am at Whitehorse, before the tribe took it over, and they had NEVER punched the greens. It was like hitting into a cart path. I have heard it has been renovated to soften it up a bit. Fun track.

UGH… Gold Mountain… I have Such a Bad taste/ Memory of the course from The old HS days on Windy, Cold, Slow Rounds, lost balls in the middle of the fairway (Not bitter at all, lol) that I just can’t get on the band wagon… But that does bring out a good point, we don’t really have ā€œGreatā€ public courses close to Seattle. The Oki courses have gone downhill… Seattle wants to close all of their Courses. I have not played a Ryan Moore Courses since he purchased a few. I do Like Chambers, but expensive, I do want to try the Home Course…

My home course is The Classic Golf Club which is one of the Ryan Moore courses and It’s really good. It’s all about the second shot and placing yourself off the tee. The others that he has are really good but the Home Course is by far the most friendly off the tee in the area. Wide fairways, links style playing ability, it’s just got a lot of good features to it and some pretty good design. The big issue is all the rates are going up everywhere this year because of the raise of minimum wage so even the local muni courses are becoming more expensive and they are becoming more crowded because of the closure of other courses.

How big of a hassle is the ferry?

In March? Probably not an issue, I normally drive around but think either Edmonds or downtown ferry won’t be too bad.

New PNW resident here. Hoping to get out and meet some of you soon. RE the Edmonds ferry and Whitehorse… Whitehorse has a shuttle that will pick you up from the Kingston ferry dock if you call them and let them know you’re taking the ferry over. I think there has to be two golfers for them to come get you but it’s free. That way you can park in Edmonds and walk on the ferry. I did it a few months ago and it was easy. Seems like a great fit for a season of Strapped Seattle tbh

Hey great to have you! Let me know if you’d like to get looped in to the whatsapp group text - trying to use it as an easier way to find games.

And as a big time ferrier - agreed.

Hi all, an Oregonian dipping in here make sure I stay on top of the March Meet Up.
Have Clubs, Will Travel.

Anyone in here play Pronghorn on a semi-regular basis? I know this is the WA roll call but hoping it’s serving as more of a Pac NW gathering point.

Going to be out near Bend in early June and trying to figure whether playing a round at Pronghorn is worth it. Any experiences to share would be most appreciated!

In order to start a meetup thread, give people like @gaandrews time to sign-up and plan, and book the tee times a month in advance, I say we need to get the ball rolling and have this decided by the end of the week.

I still think March 28th will be tough cause it’s Spring Break. Is anyone against March 7th?

  • No, I’m not against March 7th
  • Yes, I’d rather do March 28th

Based on the OG poll, looks like the people voted for the Home Course for the Duel Against the Evergrey.

Tagging everyone who’s expressed interest @I_have_the_yips @Generational3Putter @tencentgolf @KRApplebury @cnasty

Thanks @MrVinegar206! Due to a possible work trip, I’d actually vote for 3/28. I understand if that doesn’t work for most folks.

Hey @BaxterMSP. I played the Nicklaus course at Pronghorn last year as it was public. It was great, but you need to play the right tees to get the risk/reward options he always has. I’d say its worth putting on your list
I’m not connected enough to have played the Fazio side.

I’m down for whatever day works. We need to get the ball rolling though so I can book something and have a rough approximation. Alas the question ensues though…who is the duel gonna host?

Unless someone wants to step up, my vote is still for us vs. Mother Nature. She can be a real cunt sometimes

Appreciate the info. Like a lot of Refugees here I’ve got a love/hate relationship with Nicklaus courses. Glad to know you enjoyed it!

I’m already cherishing @Bullseye’s logo!
