Roll Call: The Duck Club | Canadians, Beer and Cow Pastures

So Golf North has tracks open all winter between KW and London. I’m hoping that the rain melted enough snow that I can be a proper sicko and start the #YOTB with some 5 degree golf. A+ weather for blades.

Depending on the day, I could be very interested too.

There is a 50/50 jackpot open to Alberta residents for the world juniors, currently at $5.7M with over 3 hours to go

They should have raffled off vaccines instead.

Recession or no recession, you can never count out the 50/50 in 'Berta.

Caught a game in Phoenix once, and was super crushed when 50/50 only got to 5K.

So the charitable half goes to the Hockey Alberta Foundation (though maybe it’s only half; it’s unclear if anyone else, such as Hockey Canada, gets a cut). It looks like it’s raised roughly $5.2 million so far (with another $5.2 million being paid out) with potentially three more games to go. HAF’s total revenue last year, from it’s audited financial statement, was $6.4 million. Not a bad boost.

Unbelievably there was a 50/50 in the 2020 Play-ins that had a 14million total pot. Proudly teared up when that happened.

Think the next couple WJHC Canada games could reach up to that. Gotta pay for all those Hawaii trips… :grimacing:

Legally HC can’t take any money from 50/50s. At least they can’t in Ontario. So that’s a great boon for HAF.

My wife is exceedingly rational except, I came to discover after 10 years of marriage, when it comes to online 50/50s. She bought tickets for all of those Oilers games and now she wants in on the WJHC as well.

You should be able to deduct 50/50 tickets from your taxes as a charitable donation.

You would think, but they’re operated under lottery licenses.

Also at Weston. We could get a couple groups going. Hopefully guest policy is back to normal in time for season opening 2021!

Is Weston where Arnie won the Canadian Open?

Yes in 1955. It was also his first professional win.
I believe there is a memorial to Arnie’s first victory at Weston

Great idea. We could get a few other members and create an NLU Refuge Tournament. Devils Paintbrush and Devils Pulpit also options.

Since you are offering I would love to come play any and all of them. Never played a Willie Park jr design before so Weston really intrigues me.

I’d be happy to reciprocate at my home club as well.
