Thank you for the recs everybody!
Clementines is excellent and the gooey butter cake ice cream is one of the best desserts I’ve ever had but a complete sugar explosion.
Duke’s is a strange kind of divey bar where upstairs they have a DJ but the space is so small, always fun just from an anthropological perspective.
Broadway oyster bar is fun and has good food and usually live music.
Ballpark Village is COMPLETELY SKIPPABLE just overpriced and very bland
Hi-Pointe Drive-In is my favorite place to eat in town
Rockwell has really good food and beer options.
The ikea>Rockwell>home trip has been magical as a newish homeowner
Wait till you have kids and THEY want to go to Rockwell!
My cousin works at Rockwell she told me the other breweries refer to it as the Chuck E. Cheese brewery
Meh… as someone who spends A LOT of time in breweries, with his kids, (@Long_Left_Logan can attest) I really see no difference outside of good that is superior to most. Jealousy of lost business must get to the others.
Highly second the weekend vibe in Soulard neighborhood for a bach party. It’s close to Lafayette Square. McGurks and Molly’s are the places for a party. I personally love iTap in Soulard, as well, but it’s a lowkey beer bar (connected to a pizza place and taco place that you can order food from). Personally, I think that Lafayette Square is not the vibe for a bachelor party. It’s older person rich urbanite vibes. Great restaurants though. My fiance and I love Polite Society and The Bellwether. 4 Hands is a great brewery near you. I actually disagree with @wjames, I would absolutely skip Square One Brewery.
I also second Rockwell, Urban Chestnut, and the Grove neighborhood. It’s party central. There’s an alcoholic slushie bar called Tropical Liquors that is fun, too. Handlebar is a fun party spot with music and dancing.
And I think we can all agree that you have to venture to the East side to end the night at Pop’s
Only bar I’ve ever been kicked out of
cool cool… I’ll just be quiet then…
I’d like to say that it’s the only bar I’ve ever been hit on by another man, but it happens often. They say I’m a “bear” or something
You are a very handsome fella

I did say rich urbanite, though. That’s my life goal
From my bartending career the only blatant flirtation I received were two men.
One a 400 lb man in a feather boa who sang to me.
Another a 71 year old man would told me, “you absolutely need to take a ride in my bmw convertible big boy”
how could you pass that opportunity up, big boy??
People are just very attracted to a tall person
#refugeafterdark is back?
That defines me explicitly - except “rich” … Old Urbanite
For someone who has just recently become addicted to the refuge and forgot I have a day job, how do some of you get any work done?
