Hey Everyone, longtime listener of the pod and consumer of content, I grew up on the east side, lived in the city for years, bought a place in Ballwin last year and have been enjoying the local 9 holer (and sim) in addition to the offerings around this end of the county. I’ve had a bit of time to practice lately despite the weather and have been improving, probably around a 12-14 but I have no idea. Looking forward to hopping on some weekend rounds from time to time!

I can’t leave without a local hot take: I played Aberdeen for the first time recently (*In December) and it was fine, but I don’t understand the hype.

Ah - you need to play in the spring/summer when its a bit firmer and the greens are rolling. That course soft is just fine… but when the ball rolls out a bit (that small, tolerable, window) then its excellent!

Welcome FWTPR!

Look we ask every new person this how do you feel about what Jack is planning to do to our beloved Normandie?

How is J-Anon and will he be making any roost appearances this spring?

Can’t wait for this guys to hate Aberdeen, thus crushing @Jake_skud soul, and also love Jack’s redesign and make me binge drink for 4 days.

Welcome though!

Finished one back you may see an appearance or two from our smug lord anon this year

What’s the official confluence power ranking of the Crescent Triangle?

Personally I’m at

  1. Aberdeen (when fast, also probably biased because I’ve played my best rounds there)
  2. Pevely (although I’m actually more included to drop it down because I’ve personally played some of my worst rounds there)
  3. Crescent Farms (perfectly cromulent course)

I hope Pevely and Crescent Farms fall into a giant sink hole! Aberdeen is probably my favorite public course in the metro area

1 - Aberdeen
2 - Turning around and going home
3 - Aberdeen putting green

at this point I’d have to be paid to play pevely

After playing Stonewolf a dozen or so times over the years, I don’t trust Mr. Nicklaus with much of anything.

I know I’m overanalyzing a joke but I do like thinking about the scenario where Marz chooses Option 2 over Option 3:

Marz pulls up to Aberdeen

Golfer #1: Hey…so uhhhh, kinda awkward but uhhh, we thought we booked a tee time on Aberdeen but it was Pevely we booked, so we’re gonna go head over there.

Marz: Ugh what? No way, I’ll just head home.

Golfer #2: Come on Marz. It’s not so bad.

Marz: It definitely is. So. Bad.

Golfer #3: Ugh fine, god you’re such a baby about this. We can just stay at Aberdeen then and hang out on the putting green. We can suck in the Aberdeen air and have make up games on the putting green. We can pretend we’re out there!

Marz: Hmm…yeah maybe we cou-I’m sorry guys I just can’t do it. I’d rather go home. Bye.

This is not always true… there are many days when the kids are the wife’s problem. In those instances, if we arrived at Aberdeen with a Pevely Tee Time… I’d just be found on the putting green for 3-4 hours. NOT the Driving Range… never there.

But - I also hate practicing. It does no good. Hence the order… and its accurate (for me)

“Barbara! They say the milkshakes at Normandie have to be better than this Ted Drewes guy. I don’t know who he is but he holds the ice cream upside down! Barbara, can you believe this?!”

Crossposting, as I’m not sure the CGC Roost thread gets as much traffic - Captain @Jrembold has an announcement:
