When I play Sunset, I laugh and have fun.
When I play Bellerive I want to find where Rees Jones lives, tie him to a chair, force his eyes open and make him watch Tin Cup on repeat for 100 hours straight.
EDIT - you now have me considering upgrading the Schlong of Competence into a quadrant chart:
(note - do not ask how you can have “good golf” that’s not “fun”… picturing “Oakmont” as the example. Some place that punches you in the dick over and over, but is architectully sound)
man I’ve missed a good ol’ fashioned #refugeafterdark
One spot available tomorrow at 12:40 at Sunset Hills. Me, @Nickygifts, and another member
I managed to take @jrer34 down to the wire and won by 2 at crystal highlands this morning. Great match despite neither of us really taking control at any point. It was a battle against the greens, I think we both putted off at least a couple of them, there were pins tucked into truly insane spots. Turned into a last man standing battle royale.
The course could use a little work, fairways were firm, but burnt out and bare in several places. Seems winter was pretty brutal to the publics all around the region as there doesn’t seem to be anywhere that I would call all around excellent shape.
After missing so many 3 footers yesterday, I’m tempted to test out the one-handed putting style that our playing partner utilized from even the longest distances yesterday.
Get you a LAB!
Talking to our super, he was saying that the shifting climate is really causing havoc on the grasses in our specific latitude. Any course that has a mixture of warm and cool weather grasses is just getting rocked
LAB is the way
Nick, I was positive strokes gained putting yesterday! Hard to believe with how many great birdie looks I missed
I’m on month 6 of a new putter, so you’re probably right that it’s time for another change haha
The one-handed putting may be the key, I thought he was going to putt everything to 6 inches after seeing him play the first few holes.
It probably wasn’t until somewhere on the back 9 that I adjusted to him not stepping up to the ball with his other foot and the left hand never leaving his pocket. Wild stuff.
Save yourself the embarrassment of bagging the those hideous putters, STILL missing putts, and SEVERAL hundred dollars.
