They utilize one of the fairways on the back 9 when there is not someone playing up that fairway.
yeah, yeah met needs to be a public course.
no, there isn’t. but as @Gunner22 says, there is a little flat area just to the right of 11 tee so often in the summer there are yellow range balls all over that fairway. you can’t ever hit more than a 180 shot off the warmup area.
On a different note, weather is going to be in the 50s next three days.
When I was member there (almost 20 years ago) we used 11 but also used a tee box just the right of the 6th tee box and hit up 6 and down 2. Not having a driving range was never really an issue.
I always feel a little twinge in my stomach when I see courses close, this being a Ross stings a little more than usual.
Anyone planning on attending the Senior Open at NCC this summer? I will more than likely be there
Yes, I plan on attending on Friday. Saturday at Wanney for the New England Invitational.
Same - Friday for me. Will be fun to watch the event there for sure. I usually play there 2-3 times each summer so will be cool to see how those guys navigate around the place.
@Etcioffi Joining Wanu a bit tedious, won’t be this year (have to purchase stock on open market, apply, wait a bit). Nice course. Really only makes sense if you live on Aquidneck Island. Check out Montaup as well for a good course on Aquidneck with an ultra-packed tee sheet on weekends (former member). I wouldn’t join an RI course without seeing it at peak season (July/August).
Thinking about Monday at Shennecosset or Fenwick…
Shenney is a gem
Any Valley members here? Just joined, looking for more people to play with
Welcome @DSamuell Yea man, I am a member there. Been playing most afternoons on weekdays and mornings on weekends. Probably be there again Wed looking at the weather as long as the Gov don’t shut it all down first. I’ll DM you my cell number.
Hey guys, first time poster, moderately long time lurker. Born & raised in RI but recently moved right over the border to North Attleboro. Normally play out of Cranston CC having grown up working there and some family who are long time members, but always in for an upgraded round. Been getting out to Metacomet & Agawam a bunch for some walking rounds amidst the quarantine, but it sounds like Gina may be shutting down the borders and/or the courses any time now, which is unfortunate. Got what I fear may have been my last round for a while in today, front 9 at Cranston in a pretty steady rain that has the course under water.
@anon26814599 I wouldn’t hate a slide into the DM’s to get details on the local WhatsApp group.
Also RI native in Mass. Seems like the golf courses are staying open down there, at least for now. Not so sure about the border situation, I am reading there are checkpoints for out of state plates, but they all seem to be for the southern border. I drove down Saturday, hopefully can keep doing the same (unless MA makes a change)
Most are with certain restrictions. Cranston and NK CC were humming this weekend.
Cranston now has a message up that you need RI id to play there, so guess that’s out for me
Correct - they were crushed with MA and CT residents Saturday. Full tee sheet from 8am to 4pm.
Got an email from my club today (Valley) stating they are still open with the standard social distancing measures in place. They also threw in this tidbit:
- We are still offering the 18 Hole Cart Special for $20, and 18 Hole Guest Special for $40 (includes cart). Please note that our Guest Policy is still enforced and the same guest may only play 36 holes per month.
So… If any of you out of stater’s get hard up to play, I can definitely host a few rounds.
