After having been a part of The Duel and meeting 49 other Refugees, we really need to make something happen here locally. Think we should just set a date, pick a course, and grab 2-3 times and hope we fill them…thoughts?
Anyone down for this Sunday around 11 at Aguila?

I was more so thinking of planning something a few weeks out haha
Not to mention trying to centralize it a wee bit, I’d be coming from dead opposite side of the Valley…but I’m just 1 guy
I’m flying in on Friday the 22nd to Sky Harbor if you’re looking for a late morning round. You may be earning a paycheck at that time though
I’m dropping my wife off at Sky Harbor this Sunday at 10 and was planning to play anyways so it would’ve worked out perfectly for me haha
Fair, and oddly enough I’ll be dropping mine off too, but at like 5:30am
I’m in whenever!
I may be able to get away with a tee time around 12ish on the north side of town. Maybe something like Lookout Mountain
Works for me since my flight touches down at 9:17 AM. Never played Lookout Mountain but seems like they have an 11:30 or 11:40 that’s still open. @pushdraw You want in too?
Cannot commit guys, sorry. We have a new hire starting next week and need to pretend it is a tight ship for a few weeks…classic
Do we work for the same company?
Damn, I actually won’t be able to play on the 22nd. Forgot I was lucky enough to get picked from my company to play in a tournament the day before on the 21st.
No worries man, maybe some other time. I try to hit up AZ a couple times every winter.
You ever play Papago?
Nope, never been. Typically do a buddy trip in the eastern/northeastern part of the area every year and my friends tend to be a little cheap, so limits my options in Jan/Feb.
Would recommend, close to airport too. I am up in the NE Valley personally…coming down in Jan/Feb + being cheap = a very tough combo for sure
What’s your typical course? We’ve hit Red Mountain a few years running since it’s been on the cheaper side compared to other courses
Past couple of seasons I have had the TPC pass which gets me on TPC for a cart fee ($25-35) after 2:30pm and about 1/2 off rack rate otherwise (I am less than 5 minutes from both courses). Otherwise during peak will frequent the likes of Starfire, McCormick Ranch, Stone Creek
Definitely down for planning something, but I agree with @pushdraw that we need a little bit of notice. Last weekend I planned a Sunday golf date on Friday night. Can’t do that too often or the wife and kids will get the pitchforks.
A buddy of mine just moved here so I made him a list of the public courses in town (that I’ve played anyway, though that’s most of them). Broken down into tiers. The last tier being basically “I wouldn’t play here again unless it was free and even then I’d strongly consider whether there was anything else of value I could do with my time.”
Starfire is in that group.
