Roll call: Phoenix/Scottsdale

Completely random… but do any Scottsdale Costco members know if they carry Ribeye Cap Steak?

We just planned a silly client trip for Masters weekend. Playing We Ko Pa and TPC Stadium. We’re going to grill out one night, and that’s my usual go-to.

GCU had an hour frost delay on Sunday.

Papago had a frost delay but were caught up by the time I teed off at 12:07

Would probably need to call and confirm but we usually stock up at Scottsdale Meat Market - id be surprised if they couldn’t special cut the caps for you (cant verify with certainty if they regularly carry).

Moving to the phoenix area this weekend and looking forward to meet some of y’all out on the course! Is there an Instagram or schedule for the Phoenix roost events?

@RolandOfGilead can you add this wonderful person to our DryHeat.

Also we our Tumbleweed Two-Ball, coming up which is our roost major. So join the waitlist if you are so interested. Otherwise most play is posted in here and the roost thread for people looking to join.

That was nice of them. I had the 720 tee time on Sunday and could not get a frost delay commitment out of them until I got there at 650 and was told my tee time was 9am.

If I hadn’t pre paid for the round on their app I would have gone home for good.

Bumping this up, looking for one more for Aguila this Sunday, 1/19 @8am. Thanks!

Anyone else think GCU is in worse shape than usual winters? Man I had some many bad lies around the greens on basically hard pan. Flooded in some areas, firm in others. I thought greens were fine but I last played it in late November and thought it was in better shape then and remember last year it being better through dormancy

Also they still have the worst Marshall of any course I’ve ever played. The morning guy is just the worst.

I have a work trip to Phoenix at the end of February and staying for the first weekend in March. I don’t mind a drive and am looking for something that is fun and won’t be super slammed. I’m sure nobody else is looking for those things too. Would love a couple of recs. I’ve only ever played Apache Junction in the area

We ko pa saguaro
Talking stick o’odham
Southern dunes.

Best three public courses in the state

Águila
Papago
GCU
Best city courses

Just IMO

I’ll be there at GCU so maybe that’s an option.

It’s a fine course but very much parkland style and not “az” golf if that’s what you’re wanting to see

That’s good to know. Yeah, I am looking for the Arizona experience

Águila is a blast and will get you out amongst nature much more while not costing $300. Wkp saguaro is a fantastic coore Crenshaw. Southern dunes is an Aussie sand belt style course smack dab in AZ it’ll be a little drive but it is an experience for sure.

I need to cancel so I believe there’s one spot back open for Sunday at Aguila.

What’s the word on Quintero? Have a tee time there end of March on front end of a bachelor party. Highly rated but worth the hype?

I liked it a little better than We-Ko-Pa. A ton of interesting shots. Greens are mostly flat but extremely quick and consistent. But it’s a hike out there.
