Roll Call: Omaha/Lincoln

Yeah, I saw 6,600 from the tips. The one ups look like I should almost leave my driver at home!

I’ve only played there once and my only memory is lining up for a Blowpig cut on 13 and putting my tee shot directly into the middle of Carter Lake.

Nothing worse than lining up for a cut and hitting a snap hook on that hole

I coached HS golf for 9 years with Shoreline as our home course…I feel like I have extensive knowledge of it.

Personally…I love the course because I think there are so many interesting choices and spots where you can absolutely crash and burn pretty spectacularly. I think the tee shot on 3 from the tips is one of the scariest in the region…kind of have to hit bomb that cuts a little bit with the big tree on the right blocking out that side of the course. If you overcook the fade and it goes right, the grass between 3 and the previous hole can get really gnarly…and if you pull it into the trees on the left off the tee, you pray for hard bounce off a tree so the ball pops back into play with 200 left. But the real mindf*ck is the fairway is SO wide once you get past the tree on the right.

I could go on and on about Shoreline. Some of my favorite risk-reward par 4s…the dense interior trees annoy a lot of people, but I love how they force you to choose to try to go over them or play safe around them.

I can think of 7 off the top of my head. You can really get after it, but you can get into trouble realllly quickly

Bruh, the fairway is 35 yards wide, which is a pretty standard normal fairway for Omaha golf. It just seems wide because Shoreline. With the oddly placed trees and fairway necks that go down to 12 yards in the landing area of your drive. Quirky place to play a casual round, maddening to play tournament golf.

This is eye opening. That grass between the fairways looks like not much to worry about. Gotta contemplate strategy a bit more, perhaps.

But from that back tee, it looks like you have a 10 yard wide fairway. It’s an optical illusion and it forces me to hit a shot that makes me uncomfortable…so to me, the it seems like an impossible fairway to hit, when in reality, it’s a lot bigger than it seems from back there.

Sometimes, it’s mowed down and not much of an issue. When it grows out, though, it’s a problem. It’s also kind of hit or miss on lies when you get over there, even with short grass.

This would be Big Randy certified sick if the left side of the chute didn’t exist. It’s one thing to ask ams to dial up a big fade on command (or you’re in the trees left of the fwy, as you said), it’s ridiculous to ask ams to hit a fade through a 7-yard wide start line window 50 yards from the tee!

I would definitely rather play shoreline than like miracle hill but I would note it is second place on my Jabroni golfer rankings, just behind Spring Lake.

Spring Lake National Golf Club is, perhaps, the golfer Jabroni epicenter.

Dare I ask what the qualifications are and the other courses ranked?

Just the usual loud music, carts only, ball mark and divot leaving, fist fight ready, slow pace hacker. Never anything to keep me away from a place but you gotta have your head on a swivel a bit more when the jabroni count is above 20%
