Roll Call: Oklahoma "The Supercell"

Hello my Oklahoma people! I’m calling out to you fine people looking for places to play or get an “invite” to play in the fine state of Oklahoma. We have a 3some (me, father, friend) coming March 10th-17th. Living with C-Suite is not a problem for us. Definitely want to start at Dornick Hills (since were coming in from Austin), but besides that we are to the wind.

Thanks for the help ahead of time,
Ice

What up Iceman! I feel like you could spend a couple of nights in OKC and a couple of nights in Tulsa and have a pretty good trip. After Dornick, the next great golf course you would come to would be OU’s course, Jimmie Austin. It’s my favorite course in the OKC area, even above the (rightly so) acclaimed Twin Hills and OKCG&CC. Jimmie is supposedly (as Big Randy would say) semi-public, but I’ve had trouble calling and getting on without a member. If you have trouble, let us know and myself/others on here could help arrange if we know the exact date. Price is prob around $100-$125 (range, caret, gf). Perry Maxwell’s Twin Hills would be my next stop. It’s just north east of downtown OKC, but it is fully private and you would need some help. It’s a blast. If you wanted to get a taste of the muni-life, I promise you won’t be let down by Lincoln Park’s West course and the most fun, controversial, most hated par 5, 16th hole in the city. It’s OKC’s mini version of Dornick’s cliff hole. It’s right across the street from Twin Hills and will probably set you back around $45 for gf and cart. If you wanted to get a real taste of the Strapped life, then our $11, 9-hole James Stewart course is just east of downtown and is super walkable and in great shape for the price. The following day, as you make your way to Tulsa, you could drive a little ways north to Stillwater and play OSU’s Karsten Creek designed by Fazio. I’m a member there and would love to host. The green fees are way more C-suite at $250. It’s only an hour and a half drive from OKC to Tulsa, so you can easily get up in the morning and play a course or two in the same day. Others on here would have better advice than I on the Tulsa area courses. Let us know once you have a firmer plan in mind and we can help cross the t’s and dot the i’s.

Happy to host you at Dornick especially if you can make it work on Sat 4/13 or Sun 4/14.

Also, unless you’re staying around Lk Texhoma or just HAVE to play Chick Pt, I’d avoid it. If it’s a Heckenkemper itch you have to scratch - I’d steer you toward the Territory in Duncan.

If you can, sub The Jimmie for LP, you won’t be disappointed.
Same for Shang-ra-la in favor of Hillcrest in B’ville. Should you find yourself here, go to Frank and Lolas afterward. Order the green chili burger. I prefer mine with a cold botte of Fat Tire

@OliveLoaf, are you my Dornick contact? I feel like we spoke about this at the Red River Ass Whooping you guys put on us.

No problem switching for Territory instead of Chikasaw. How do I get on that one?

I think we can do both Jimmy and LP. Only question is how to get on Jimmy?

My father and I play golf until the sun goes down. 36 in a day is not a problem.

I know a member who could facilitate the Territory - depends on the date… They also offer an unaccompanied guest rate, I believe. Let me do some digging

Jimmy should offer public tee times - though only a few days/ a week in advance. They’re hosting a KFT event in June so who can say how that’ll impact availability in March

Happy to host at Twin Hills if you’re interested in playing. Would have to be before the 16th.

Can give a bunch of OKC-area recommendations depending on timing, etc. but for starters I would add Frida for dinner to the list.
