Anyone in Tulsa playing in, or interested in, the LaFortune Men’s Golf Association this season? First tourney is this Saturday.
I always enjoyed LMGA, but with the move out to TCC and the 9-month old at home I’m not going to be able to join this year.
Fun LMGA fact: I won my flight in the first event in 2019 and then tore my ACL the very next day…I can’t remember if I ever claimed my pro shop credit, or not…
Sounds like YSO undervalued things…
Brutal
The Road to the Champions Tour was all set to start with the B-Flight Net Championship at LaFortune in April 2019, but I went and played church league flag football the next day instead…
Short notice but, I’ve got one spot at 1:10 at LaFortune this afternoon if anyone wants it.

I had the pleasure of hosting @Linksgems on Saturday at Dornick. He was absolutely blown away by not just the cliff hole, but Maxwells utilization of the feature on 4 of the final 5 holes. We pondered how the rock face must have teased and tormented Maxwell in the early days before finally laying out holes upon the rock outcrop.
It was a real treat getting to visit with Jon about his travels in golf and his observations of what makes for the best experiences.
With regard to the restoration Jon was very complementary of the shaping work done by Blake Conant and Eric Iverson saying these guys always get it right and it looks as though most all this has always been here. He was floored by how well the 11th ties into the natural roll of the property despite being returned to is new position some 20 yards West of the previous . Additionally he had glowing reviews of our putting surfaces - especially considering their youth. S/o to our Agronomy team and Brent our Super.
Can’t wait to see the photos. I am hopeful we might see Dornick on his calendar this time next year!
(April would be a tough bump )
Bumping this post. We are up to 15 of 20 spots filled for the night golf outing and 11/20 spots filled for Golf Club Oklahoma outing. (Link in OP). I’m thinking we keep this available to Supercell/Okie roll call folks only until April 29th, then throw open to the wider NLU audience in town for PGA.
Thanks for the reminder to sign up! Excited for some night golf - will be at the tourney Saturday morning though!
In for LaFortune. Thanks for the bump!
12:20 at LaFortune Friday. Just me at the moment with 3 spots open. Hit me up.
Tenative yes for me. I’ll confirm tomorrow for sure
Same. Should know by mid day tomorrow, but would love to play
Hello Supercell,
As many of you know, I have been planning to marshal at Southern Hills for the past 11 months. This best-laid of plans was thrown into disarray a few hours ago when my AirBNB evaporated:
Ok, life happens, I’ll deal. Except there are now zero Tulsa hotel options that are both 1) not a four-figure-per-night rate, and 2) don’t come with a significant risk of being stuck with a leftover meth needle hidden in the unchanged sheets (sorry, red roof inn). That leaves VRBO and AirBNB, and the only option comparably priced to my original booking (read: 15% more expensive) within 30 miles of Tulsa is The Hobo Nobo, which I can only describe as a pedo van that was repo’d and then sold at police auction to a peace corps volunteer who just got back from Nepal:
I guess the Route 66 plate on the front is… a nice touch?
Sure, I could do a Strapped: Tulsa week living in a weird ass van, but I’ve basically already done that. Plus, Southern Hills probably wouldn’t take kindly to me attempting to sleep in their parking lot. I would like to preserve my 0.004% chance of ever getting a tee time someday.
So, the long and the short of it is, I need a place to stay for May 16-23. If you or any friends, family, neighbors, colleagues, barn animals or ex-wives have a place I could crash that is not the interior of a vehicle, I’m your/their huckleberry. Alas, worst case scenario I can sleep in my rental car (which is already booked and definitely NOT a zen-ass creepmobile).
@DillonOutBogeys and I are in the same boat - had accommodations line up and they canceled, then found a buddy couch to crash on - now they are selling their house. We’ve also considered the rape van hahaha
How do you feel about commuting some of the days? We might be staying in Tulsa a night or two so I can’t guarantee our spare room is available the whole week, but it should be open at least part of your trip if you don’t mind the drive. I’ll even offer it up in the low 3 digits nightly rate just for you!
Totally kidding, no cost, but let me double check with CJ on what nights she wanted to stay down there
lets all go camping.
I would gladly commute part of the week from Bville! Let me know what day(s) look good to you. Need to cover your bar tab up at Hillcrest one of those days anyway
