Roll Call: Oklahoma "The Supercell" - The Gusher @ Hillcrest 6/28

@Pittstate6 happy to connect for a round soon. I’ve got a good crew of friends I grew up with fill out tee times with whenever as well. Feel free to find me on IG (sand handle) and DM and we can connect to get out and play soon.

When will you be down here living full-time?

Had to let you know that I got a buddy from Texas to hit Roman Nose with me this past Sunday. It was better than I remembered. He was blown away. Every hole is a challenge. Luckily, #1 and #2 eases you in. And $25 for green fee and cart!

Yes living in OK full time in the downtown OKC area tentatively. Very exited

Should be down there sometime mid summer If things go according to plan.

Anybody playing in Tulsa tomorrow? Was gonna go walk South Lakes or LaFortune. Plenty of times online. I can do about anytime.

Can’t get down there for a full round today, but definitely wanna get back down there for a weekend or two in March.

Did not expect to see a fellow Bville resident here. I’ve been here for several years now but don’t play much in Tulsa really

Aloha @tjosu ! Let’s hit Adams sometime.

I just moved here for a job at P66 last month.

Missed that moving thread, that was a good use of a long road trip. I’m a member at Adams so I’m out there all the time, although right now we’re thinking hard about finally joining Hillcrest. Adams just punched the fairways a couple weeks ago and it’s still in rough shape and really needs a lot of this rain that’s coming in

How is membership at Adams? What’s it include in terms of course/range access, lessons, shop benefits, etc?

Lately I’ve just been hitting the range over there, my swing is in about the same shape as the course right now, so hopefully I’ll recover at the same pace as Adams’ fairways.

I’ve really enjoyed being a member there and it’s an incredible deal. I assume you’re under 35? If so, a junior membership is $720 plus tax (this doesn’t include carts but there are a ton of walkers, myself included). You can also get a range membership through the pro shop for $400 for the year. The head pro out there is really laid back, I’ve never taken lessons with him but plan to this year. There’s a wide mix of people that are out there; you’ve got the old guys that have their set tee times weekly that won’t let anyone play through, the regular players that are out there constantly and get along well, and people that don’t play much at all so they don’t take it seriously and slow it down. Starting in April there is a COP/P66 league that plays on Tuesdays and Thursdays. People form teams and you have weekly matches but the league has fallen apart a little the last few years because of the company changes/layoffs/etc.

Hillcrest is a tough pill to swallow, the junior membership comes out to almost $4k for the year. The course conditioning is incredible though and puts Adams to shame.

So for 800 bucks I can have unlimited walking rounds and range balls at Adams? Not bad. I’ll seriously consider it.

I assume you also work at P66 or COP? Would it be better to just join that league instead of becoming a full blown Adams member? Also, do you know how one gets involved in the office league?

Also thought about Hillcrest, looked into it before moving. I’m sure an opportunity to play it as a guest will come around at some point, and then I’ll give it some more consideration in a year or two.

Sorry, that was a little confusing, it’s about $1100 for walking and range combined. Yep, I’m at COP. Joining Adams would make more sense as long as you’re planning to play more than just the weekly league matches. I think getting involved is basically just finding people in the league and seeing if they need people for their team or them getting you on another one, I haven’t done it in a couple years so I’m not a ton of help there.

I’m sure my bank account, marriage and self-esteem will regret saying this, but if we don’t do a 405 vs 918 Refugee meet up in 2020, what are we even doing here??

Set it up!

405 vs. 918/539 would be cool. Just took a quick peek at Google Maps, and there really isn’t much in the way of golf along the I-44 corridor midway between Tulsa and OKC. The towns of Chandler and Stroud are in the middle and seem to have small munis, but that’s really it.

The alternative could be to meet in Stillwater and organize something at Karsten Creek…

I’m guessing most people won’t want to pay $350 to get destroyed by Karsten. The OSU business school hosts a tournament there every year and we’ve had a COP team the last few; it is so damn hard and just beats you over the head

good to know, didn’t realize it was so expensive!

I’m always down for Karsten. Lakeside isn’t a bad option in Stillwater. We could also go to Buffalo Rock in Cushing.

Dual citizen here. Grew up in 918 (Cushing), going to school in 405. Absolutely down for this.
