Hopefully it’s not bad form to post this on the Refuge but wanted to let the OKLAhomies know about the “You’re Still Out” golf podcast. Deep dive Masters preview this week but we talk a lot of Oklahoma golf most weeks too. Would love for you to give it a listen and send feedback. It’s certainly inspired by the NLU guys!
Made a short (13 min) video edit of an intense refuge match at Lincoln Park - West that will premiere Tues night at 8:30. Hope to chat with some of ya there!
There go that man!
Fellow Refugees: You are cordially invited to join myself and @OliveLoaf at Historic Dornick Hills this Sunday 12/20 - I have the 11&11:10AM tee times. Forecast is currently calling for highs in the upper 50’s and clear skies.
For those into Dornick Hills (and let’s be honest, who isn’t), check out the latest Fried Egg pod. Tom Doak talks specifically about the renovation.
P.S. enjoy Dornick guys!
Also, while I’m here – an update from DH:
-
Tree and underbrush removal continues in preparation for our upcoming Doak led restoration. Currently, areas being cleared along the 3rd fairway and behind its green have revealed natural rock outcroppings and offered new views of the property – the same has been done to clear the gunchy area on the N side of 5 fairway. Though these areas are easier on the eyes - they are still to be avoided… Hopefully there’s much more of this to come along our creek and boundaries.
-
Last week, a stump removal contractor was on property and ground approx 162 stumps in his single day visit.
-
Our maintenance crews have done an awesome job this fall and the ongoing tree and brush cutting have had little, if any, effect on playability.
-
Putting surfaces remain in excellent condition. Additionally, our new-“ish” Super over-seeded tees on par 3’s, short par 4’s and practice areas this season. To my knowledge, this is a first for us and is a welcome change - especially on the par 3 tees.
Mr. Doak spoke briefly about his recent visits to the property and offered some color as to his plans for the place on the most recent “Yolk with Doak” on the Fried Egg pod.
This is awesome!!! Mega jealous, I have some other obligations this upcoming weekend.
Still new to the refuge and haven’t met anyone in 3D space yet. I can’t traverse to Ardmore this weekend but anyone in the OKC Metro want to play Sunday? I’ve seen some on this thread mention James Stewart…or Stewart National Golf Links if you like. I’m generally a 9 hole kind of guy.
Shame on us for not replying to this when you posted it. Welcome to the Refuge! Got a spot in our Sunday game at Lincoln Park tomorrow if you want in.
While I’m still treading lightly here, want to plug the podcast again. Especially this one featuring @reddirtgolf Lots of talk about Oklahoma golf courses! Listen and discuss!

Rain check. Currently chilling with fam in Texas. Next time!
I know there’s some guys who go out to James E Stewart on here, anyone interested in doing a birdie challenge out there for 2021?
I’m all in. Love me some Jimmie Stewart National.
@SMcGavin1 yes, we have a group of Stewy National fanboys indeed. I’m in for the birdie challenge out there as I’m sure @Hoppock will be as he crossed one off today! (Missed my two looks…)
@Hoppock and @rdvern when would you guys say the drop date is for getting a final round in at Dornick before the “big changes” of the resto begin/holes being changed?
Bish, please…The 'Mish regrets the error
Good Day Mish

Thanks for this post, I’ve been wanting to make the drive down there as well before the work starts. I’m up at Hillcrest CC and I think our clubs are friendly toward each other so ideally I’d like to come back after Doak is done too.
While we haven’t been doing any work nearly to the scale of having a big name architect come in, our super has been on a big time tree removal kick (s/o Mr. Player) and it letting some of the fairways reshape a bit to try and get back to some of the original Maxwell layouts that have been overgrown/altered. I’m happy to host if anyone in here finds themselves up near Bville for any reason
Thanks for the rundown sir! Planning will commence. And yes, excited to have Derek on the pod.
Sounds like we just found a reason to me. @Hoppock. I also smell an Oklahomie’s Refuge meet up in 2021
