Roll Call: Ohio (OATW adjacent) 2026 Major now official

@Creags just facilitated a group hat order but the offerings were a little different than that one. I’m not sure if he ordered any extras but they turned out great!

I think I did see those, and they looked great. But I’m partial to this “style”. It’s a good fit for me.

I’d guess that was from the first group order. If I recall there was a nesticle who had a shop up in Cleveland that did them, don’t recall his name though.

Your best bet may just to be doing another order through Imperial, it’s surprisingly easy.

I’ll have to search for an appropriate logo on here this evening; I’m sure it’s buried on the fuge somewhere. Thanks again.

DM your email and I can send it to you

This is the main reason I keep my Oberlin membership despite it being so far away. The ability to get a quick quality 18 in after work. For us I think it’s the age of the membership. 80% are retired probably so everyone is off in the mornings leaving 2 pm and after wide open most days including weekends

I can vouch for that, my retired stepdad who is a member always plays with his buddies on weekday mornings. Done and home by like 11am.

Hey, y’all, I’m going to have most of the day Friday to kill in Cincinnati. Any recommendation for a place to play on short notice that also has rental clubs? Don’t really have the ability to bring the sticks

I’ve watched this closely over the last few years and it’s such a shame. New Albany and GCOD are the only two on that list that I even like anymore, but I’m just not willing to pay these prices. GCOD used to be my favorite place to play on Friday after work. The twilight rate was <$30, now it’s $54. The problem is that those who were new to golf in 2020 now think this is normal and will continue to pay it. Booking a tee time is like a part time job these days, and it just depresses me. It’s a MUST to book your time a week in advance or you will not get one.

Copy everything you said about these and apply it to whoever is running Delaware Golf Club and Cumberland Trail into the ground.

I’ve deluded myself into thinking that writing detailed, negative google reviews will help solve the problem, but in my heart I know it won’t change things. I fear that affordable, quality Columbus area public golf may be dying.

I don’t know who I’m ranting to or if I even have a point to make. It’s just nice to know that other people are seeing this and are upset because I feel like I’m taking crazy pills hearing about how much golf is booming while I’m only seeing it get worse.

It’s healthy to rant about because we all know we’re right about this crap even as we sit in the extreme minority of the greater golfing public.

This is the worst part in my opinion. Conditioning, prices and pace-of-play are all subjective on some level but the real frustration lies in spending an inordinate amount of time scheduling your beating.

The public golf will continue to suck until morale improves!

Blue Ash is the best public course within the city and has tee times available. I would assume they have rental clubs, but im not completely sure.

Thanks so much! I’ll give them a call right now

Blue Ash had clubs for rent for $30. Think I’ll be booking a tee time

What time are you playing Friday? Might be able to join depending on the tee time.

Hell yeah, enjoy!!

Price/value is still my main objection relating to Columbus public golf, but this is a close second. You’re forced to make a tee time 6-10 days out, often paying in full upfront, with no idea as to weather, conditioning, or who you may be playing with. It is also ridiculous that you can play Virtues after 2:00 on a weekend for $64. Its only a 10-15 minute longer drive than Glenross or Delaware for me.

Tee times were my biggest issue as well. Its not bad if you have a group that wants to play every week. But I have 10 or so friends that want to play sporadically and usually arent booking tee times.

To play every week means coordinating schedules between a bunch of people 10 days in advance, or playing 2 PM saturday at a less than ideal course. Gets exhausting after a while.

That aside, I think cincy golf is a fair price with courses that are in solid shape.

Was first out yesterday at Manakiki. $19.20 to walk 18.

Lotta caveats…it was a weekday, that price takes into account the Metroparks’ bonus rounds program ($30 for 20% off all tee times for the year), and I think they mis-charged me offseason rates to start with (Sleepy was $27.20 last week).

I think I was just ahead of you…you must have gone out around 7-7:30 ish?

I saw someone walking down 13 in long pants carrying a Cobra bag when I was coming up 14, and thought “looks like Mark”…but assumed you would have been using a push cart. I guess I assumed wrong!
